Yeah I do too. I had to look it up but she said her reason for saying that is because you have the loved ones of these artists, in this instance, Kurt Cobain's daughter, that has to see people glorifying her father's death. That's nothing to romanticize, Kurt was clearly in a really bad place before he decided to end it. It sucks.

Then i think about two of my favorite guys like Chester Bennington and Chris Cornell, who died years after the fact. It's not cool. These ppl are in real pain.

It was like a dream come true when they opened down here in Jersey. I actually felt weird buying the stuff without having to be discreet about it.

The prices need to come down a bit, but other than that it's been a cool experience. It's a nice way to relax after a long day.

Lol yes 10 thousand albums. On average I consistently listen to about 5-10 a day, mostly ones I havent heard before. Over the span of the last of 2-3 decades, it has added up obviously haha. I just keep em rolling all day when I can, and get them from various sites. Also I play some piano/synth myself.

And yeah Im a fan of Interpol and The Killers. They’re more on the poppy side of stuff I listen to I guess, but have some great stuff for sure. Was just listening to The Killers last album the other day actually (they released an abridged version of it without the monologues).

Id name some of my favorite bands, but I wouldn’t be able to stop once I start man. Too much.

I knew I could count on you to dig Swans Clyde lol. You always had good music taste. Love the Wire drop earlier as they are Post Punk legends.

Yes gotta love 60s Clapton, and Jarboe is awesome. She was great in early Swans. Think she left in the 90s. She also did a cool collab album with Neurosis about 20 years ago.

Btw people, another good way to find new bands is if you have Spotify, just search for your favorite bands and then go to the “Fans Also Like” section on their page to see a list of 10 or so similar bands. Then you can just keep branching off from there into new bands. Spotify is only $10 a month for premium with no ads, and you get 95% of albums you could ever want, with many remasters and bonus tracks, so I def think it’s worth it.

Thanks, yeah I have a deep connection to the Post-Punk era. Bands like The Fall were pretty deep listens for me for a long time.

Their earliest music all stems from pentatonic blues scales (mainly Black Sabbath and Paranoid).

i didn't get through the whole thing, but i liked a bunch of the music on there so far. song at the ~14:55 mark is my favorite so far.


i love when musicians go across genres. i could easily see a band like Stone Sour doing a version of this. Corey Taylor has such a singing range (5 1/2 octaves). i remember i wanted to do the song, Family Affair, as a cover with one of my bands back in NY. Everyone loves that song, but our drummer wanted nothing to do with anything outside of 70s-80s metal

well i was the last guy who joined the group - they were all HS buddies, and in their late 40s and early 50s - i'm mid 30s. he and the singer just wanted to play songs they knew and from their time; the bassist and i were more experimental and wanted to try different things outside of our normal realm.

the bassist actually turned me onto the band Ghost, which is the perfect offspring of ABBA (music) and Black Sabbath (lyrical). now i'm a big fan.

i just play on my own til i can find other people who play. i've lost a lot of my speed and skill now that i don't play as often

my uncle and I still argue with one another. I love david gilmour, but i also love Yngwie Malmsteen (classically trained, i believe). Both are masters at their types of music. yngwie is on a different level, though.


but i'd much rather listen to david gilmour than yngwie

Me too. I come from the blues world and 60s R&R so some of the hard driving heavy metal is out of my league, though I respect it. Plus, I could never play that fast.
