Week 14: Buccaneers @ 49ers
Garoppolo out
Moore out
Ridgeway out
All the above guys will be out several weeks, and would be IR candidates if the 9ers didn't only have 2 IR designated for return transactions available. Supposedly they are saving those 2 for Kinlaw and Mitchell. Due to this, they will be carrying multiple players with serious injuries on the active roster for the rest of the season.
Bosa is officially listed as questionable, but is expected to play.
For Tampa their 2 starting safeties are doubtful (Winfield, Edwards), as is their starting LT Wirfs
Fournette and Akiem Hicks are questionable but expected to play. CB Murphy-Bunting is questionable as well.
Weather looks to be damp with occasional rain. That would seem to benefit the 49ers, as Tampa is bottom of the barrel in the run game. But the 9ers have underwhelmed this year on the ground as well and Tampa probably is going to gear up against the run and dare Purdy to beat them in the passing game.
Will be interesting to see what a Purdy centric game plan looks like, and how he fares overall. He did an admirable job stepping in last week and allowing the 9ers to get the win. But its a different animal with an entire week prepping to start, not just for the 9ers but also the opposing defense as well. I would expect as run heavy game plan, and some 21 personnel with CMC and Mason or perhaps even a sprinkling of 30 or 31 with CMC/Juice/Mason. With the lineup Purdy will always have Christian as an outlet/check down in the passing game, but having Mason on the field at the same time, might get Tampa to bite on play action more than they normally would. With a 31 personnel package, if they can the Bucs to bite 9ers might be able to hit CMC (or even Juice) on a wheel route for a big play.
Idk, we'll see. But one thing is for certain, and that is the O-line is going to have to play quite a bit better. The O-line's play has been rapidly deteriorating the last few weeks. Defense's have started to figure out how to attack the unit, and its been plainly obvious lately that if you send some extra guys at them, the O-line is quite prone to missing assignments. There have been way, way too many free rushers the last couple games. All this on top of, the line struggling overall in the running game all season. O-line has got to make some adjustments. Especially without Jimmy, who's super quick release masks some of the pass protection issues. Jimmy has also guided the 9ers to a top 3 passing attack this season, so not having that threat out there will only put more pressure on the running game to perform.
Tampa's offense has the capability to be explosive, but for whatever reason they have been underwhelming and sputtered most of the season. We can only hope that continues today, but I do worry a but that the heroics at the end of last week's game may have woke them up.
So yeah going to be an interesting one. 9ers really need to take advantage of home field, and the soggy conditions especially since Tampa's tends to struggle with their running game.
If 9ers can get the Win today, and pull out another W next week in Seattle on a short week, they will be sitting QUITE pretty for the division crown. But one game at a time, got to find a way to win today with a 3rd string, 7th round rookie QB going agains the GOAT.

Very glad Bosa is playing; hopefully he will be as effective without any limitations from that cranky hammy. We need him to keep Brady off-balance or TB will have a field day picking apart our secondary. Just need Purdy to play smart, don't turn the ball over, and let our playmakers carry the offense.

Welp it took exactly 1 play for the O-line to miss an assignement and try to get another QB seriously hurt.
Lucky he led with his helmet, and it drew a penalty

Re: Week 14: Buccaneers @ 49ers
other than that 1st play, nice start for the offense.
Admittedly if that 1st play didn't draw a penalty by Neal's bad form, it would have probably been a 3 & out. But we'll take all the breaks we can get

Givens is hurt. Hope it’s nothing too serious, because he has been playing very well. He probably had the best game of all our players several weeks ago in Mexico City.

Lol
That hit on Purdy was his true “Welcome to the NFL” type of greeting.
