Build A Team Around Zion Or Tatum

Post#1 » by Bubbachuck2 » Tue Dec 13, 2022 5:20 pm

Which player (Tatum Or Zion) would you build around and how would you do so? Using all-time players or current is fine. Lastly, if you believe neither are worthy to be built around, what would be their best fits.

Tatum until we see Zion's game translate in the playoffs, though honestly I'm expecting that it more or less will and if that's the case even assuming Jay levels up a notch this year in the postseason probably Z. But right now the proven guy over the unproven guy

Tatum was fine last years playoffs but I wouldn’t say it shows he translated

Agree on needing to see playoff Zion though

yeah that's fair. Tatum's kinda a weird player because it's hard for me to think of a current star of his caliber that frequently has as many peaks and valleys in his performance. played two very good - to - great series last year and then two relative stinkers, and I know one of the good series' he had was v Brooklyn, but he was also nice v miami lol, so what im getting at is that i don't even think it was entirely a case of him shining against mediocre defensive teams and being exposed by good ones, though to some degree that's probably true. I think he's just a guy who more than anything relies on his deep stroke to open up the rest of his game, and even now there's just too much variance with that in particular so i don't really know if the results for him will be much different in june.

Tatum. Look at how Blake declined, his dunk volume cut in half by 25.

I think Tatum reminds me of PG in regards to his streakiness - and I think you nailed it with him being so jumpshot reliant and not being a curry/KD level shooter leaves him prone to cold streaks with him not being able to reliably create seperation with his dribble.

a lot easier to build a team around zion. surround him with shooters and defenders, a pg who can handle and create (a guy like the jones brothers work - doesn't have to be great) and you have what you need for zion to be successful.
