Around the NBA: 2022-23 Season

Post#1 » by DASMACKDOWN » Tue Dec 13, 2022 12:05 pm

Paul George and Kawhi are back
Cade is out for the season which sucks for Detroit.
Nets are suddenly hot winning 11 of 14 and won 4 straight. Sitting at 17-12

I can barely make out the faces, but I do see Caruso and Ayo ranked pretty high

Crazy to see how both Ayo and Caruso are higher ranked than Jimmy. Lonzo would've been up there too somewhere.

Zach is riiiight at the 0/0 intersection, which means he's not usually tasked to guard stars and he more or less comes out neutral on the defensive end

Always disappointing to see. They were in the Wemby sweepstakes no matter what, so this maybe helps them with a few % points, but not sure that's worth Cade losing most of a season. Also...shin injury is weird. I don't ever recall anyone having season-ending shin surgery. I'm pretty low on him compared to the majority, but obviously wish the young man the best in recovery.

Makes me wonder how good this team could be defensively with a defensive anchor at the 5 instead of the turnstile we have. Jarrett Allen would make this team top 3-5 defensively, even with Lavine and Demar.

Maybe not a total dud on offense, but seeing as most “defensive” centers like JV, Bam and Allen tend to actually outscore Vuc… just by scoring more efficient garbage buckets and FTs… I’m pretty sure we’d be significantly better, particularly at closing games.

We kind of have the Nuggets’ defensive woes without the Nuggets’ MVP (er cough, Michael Jordan Award) center.

Honestly I was in the Suggs bandwagon between the two (ooooopppps) and a bigger fan of Mobley. Still he has amazing potential to be pretty great. Yeah a season ending shin injury is absolutely strange

Yep both are very high, and Lavine is right where Tatum is. His defensive lapses aren't different than what I see from other offensive players. Our perimeter is the only reason we have an top 10 defense, Lavine included.

Knew Zion wasn't a great defender but didn't think he was neighbors with Doug McDermott.

I liked Mobley on top of all as well. I likely had Suggs above Cade as well and that could still be the right call, esp. if this shin thing goes sideways. Hopefully young fella isn't headed toward Lonzo-dom with something so weird. I stated back during debates about who to take...I see the clear path to how Cade could become an all star player. I just can't see a franchise-level player commensurate w/the hype he got. I think the fact that he got the majority #1 nod amongst a really good top 5 made his hype optics appear higher than they should've been...when really those 5 were pretty close together in many ways.

Feel like there's been lots of kerffufles and dust-up in the NBA recently, which always brings me back to this Bulls team either just being the nicest dudes ever or just not even worth our opponents energy. It's so weird, even tanking teams get in to little mix-ups now and then like we've seen with the Rockets, but the Bulls just don't participate in such antics, for better or worse.

Always a lot of concerns about the apathy of some of our players.

What do others make of the Bulls lack of fracases?

A well-disciplined veteran team or a symptom of a larger problem?

While scuffles are exciting, most of them are started for stupid juvenile reasons. And teams usually take on the image of their head coach and their best players, and our team, they just get on with their business and are rather chill personalities.

I wouldn't think too much into it. Though, I'm still annoyed that the Bulls teammates didn't step up more when Alex's was taken out of the air last year, that definitely warranted a scuffle.
Why so serious?

Hard to argue Franz not being in it, or Barnes being amazing choices. Too loaded draft for sure. Suggs won’t likely be better as he has had his injury issues too and Cade has better BBIQ.

Must be nice for all these teams to go on a slump… Phoenix, GSW, Kings.

Kuminga is playing a lot better. You gotta send Caruso for him even though he’s not a shooter.

I dont even think PHX have won since they destroyed us. Ok once. But are 1-7 since they played us.

Yeah.. had our dumb west coast road trip just been a week later, that's probably 3 extra wins and 1 fewer blowout we could've had.

Surely they could have found a better way to convey what is otherwise good info. With all those floating heads overlapping each other, I can barely make out who's who.
