Great turnaround by Argentina after losing to the Saudis in game 1.

Wha a dissapointment in this match, we were not good enough but that penalty destroyed the game. Our boys can hold their heads high and go into the third place game. Orsato is a c**t. :nonono:

That should have been 4-0 right there.

argentina absolutely dominated, no room for complaining about the ref

Doesn’t matter about players with a yellow though. Yellows don’t carry over during the knockout stages - just the group stage.

The match was so boring I fell asleep at the start of the 2nd half and just woke up now.

Argentina deserved to win, though. They played nearly a flawless match (as far as I could see before sleeping...)

Yep, waved the white flag and looking for comfort hugs after that penalty kick. Even the low ranked Aussies put up more of a fight when they almost equalised in injury time. One of the weakest semis from recent memory.

Love these takes and comparisons with Saudia Arabia and Australia matches. You could argue that Argentina took this a little bit more serious and actually played to their best since this was an ideal situation development for them. Going 2-0 up and then pushing on the counter which suits their strengths and frees up Messi the most. This was the best match Argentina played in this tournament while on the other hand Croatia played its worst.
Oh, and analytics and expected goals in football is all just moot. That is the beauty of football, any "small" team can defeat so called "better" team on any given day. Enjoy the game
