(4-2-3-1): Lloris;
Koundé, Varane, Konaté, T. Hernandez;
Fofana, Tchouameni;
Griezmann, Dembele, Mbappé ,
Giroud.

(3-4-3): Bounou;
El Yamiq, Saiss, Aguerd;
Hakimi, Amrabat, Ounahi, Mazraoui;
Ziyech, En-Nesyri, Boufal.

Rumor has it that the flu is preventing Rabiot and Upamecano from playing at all today. Rough

Fofana playing in midfield? Interesting.

Going with a 3 CB solution, with which they have yet to start a game with in this tournament. Player by player, this is just a very solid squad from front to back.

I'd share the French starting 11 but I won't because it doesn't matter, since they're going to lose in shocking fashion. :wizard:

I suspect Morocco will be looking to free up some movement down the flanks and less down the middle.

I'm guessing they went with 3 CBs so they could utilize Hakimi more

Adding another CB is always tricky though. Against Portugal, when Morocco added another CB and made it 3, Portugal took even more possession.

fbalmeida wrote:The news in Portugal is that Fernando Santos and the FPF have mutually agreed to part ways, which saves the FPF a lot of cash if they were forced to fire him with two years left on the contract.

Meanwhile, La Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that the FPF has offered José Mourinho the possibility of coaching the national squad while simultaneously retaining his current job coaching AS Roma.

This could be nonsense, but I'd obviously LOVE Mourinho.

Mourinho was reportedly invited by the FPF to coach the national squad back in 2012 when Paulo Bento's contract was set to expire just prior to the qualifiers for the Euro 2012. He was also then offered the job while retaining his main gig at Real Madrid. Mourinho accepted but Florentino Perez did not, remarking at the time that "it wouldn't be ethical for him to have two jobs with so many unemployed coaches."

Despite his heydays likely being behind him, I believe Mourinho may have a lot more leverage right now at Roma then he did at Real.

Sure hire Mouinho for the Portugal national team.

If the goal is to draw a lot of hate to the team.

It indeed is, but having it and staying in tip top shape, as you get older, is difficult... father time is undefeated as far as I know.

Ahh, the battle of the countries that make some of my favorite food.

Seriously, if I had to pick the cuisines of two countries to live off forever, both France and Morocco would be high on the list.

And while I like French food a tiny bit more than Moroccan on the whole, for today, go Morocco.

But for me.... I'm definitely eating more as I get older lol. And a desk job only makes it easier.

Back in my mid/early 20s, I'd be able to sleep like 10 hours a day. Sleeping means more testosterone. And it also means I ain't eating during that time lol

I get around 6-7 now. A little more on weekends. More time in the day = more time to snack

I can legit eat 4 meals a day now. And sometimes 5. Luckily, I'm still at 200 pounds (I'm 31 now). I used to be 175 in my mid 20 prime. And I used to only east 2-3 meals a day.

In the early 30's you're still in your prime, lol. When I was that age I worked 8 hours a day, slept 6/7, and then trained for 2 and a half hours, 6 days a week (1 and a half lifting weights, then cardio).

Wait until you reach your late 30's/early 40's... huge difference.

fbalmeida wrote:As far as GOAT right-backs, or right wing-backs are concerned, for me the conversation only really starts after you've set aside Cafu as the platonic form for the perfect right-back. There's Cafu, and then there's everyone else who is trying to be what Cafu was.

Cafu would own the entire right flank, from box to box, in virtually every game he ever played, for 90 minutes, and without barely breaking a sweat in the process. Cafu defied comprehension.

Many are likely to remember Roberto Carlos, the great Brazilian left-back, for his daring attacking runs, and thunderous left foot. Well, in the 2002 World Cup, Roberto Carlos, 3 years Cafu's junior, was questioned on multiple occasions on why he wasn't attacking as much as he did for his club Real Madrid, with some implying if he was fit or bothered by any issue. His reply was always the same:

"Não dá para atacar com o Cafu a fazer o que ele faz."

"It's impossible to attack with Cafu doing what he does."

I watched Cafu live a couple of time, back when he was still playing with Palmeiras (early/mid 90's).

Amazing player, best right-back I've ever seen.

I remember a newspaper (back when they were reliable) did some sort of conditioning test with lots of players at the time, and Cafu not only had the best test, he was like 20% ahead of the 2nd place. Guy could run all day.

Roberto Carlos was also amazing as well.

Man, if you see the brazilian national team's R/L backs now... that makes me want to cry. By far our worst section.

A Royale with Cheese.
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.
