They'd be fine with a Chicharito type of poacher as well

Was just thinking France playing with fire by not counter striking and then they create that beautiful run.

Also, bad clip on Griezmann. Nowhere near the ball. Bit dirty.

Yeah, that was an extremely late call.

Not only late, but the offside was beyond obvious, even Helen Keller would've called it.

Lol, who doesn't need those guys? Like 4 teams?

teams are usually better with players with higher work rate than poachers in modern football, you just cant be totally inept at making the last touch.

Cafu would own the entire right flank, from box to box, in virtually every game he ever played, for 90 minutes, and without barely breaking a sweat in the process. Cafu defied comprehension.

Many are likely to remember Roberto Carlos, the great Brazilian left-back, for his daring attacking runs, and thunderous left foot. Well, in the 2002 World Cup, Roberto Carlos, 3 years Cafu's junior, was questioned on multiple occasions on why he wasn't attacking as much as he did for his club Real Madrid, with some implying if he was fit or bothered by any issue. His reply was always the same:

"Não dá para atacar com o Cafu a fazer o que ele faz."

"It's impossible to attack with Cafu doing what he does."

I watched Cafu live a couple of time, back when he was still playing with Palmeiras (early/mid 90's).

Amazing player, best right-back I've ever seen.

I remember a newspaper (back when they were reliable) did some sort of conditioning test with lots of players at the time, and Cafu not only had the best test, he was like 20% ahead of the 2nd place. Guy could run all day.

Roberto Carlos was also amazing as well.

Man, if you see the brazilian national team's R/L backs now... that makes me want to cry. By far our worst section.

My first memory of Cafu was watching him come on to substitute Jorginho, in the 21st minute against Italy in the world Cup final in 1994. I was 13 years old. It was love at first sight.

My prediction for the second half is that Marrocos will suffer 1 or 2 goals from France in counterattacks, due to having to open up the game.

I hope I'm wrong though, I'm STRONGLY rooting for Marrocos to win this **** match, lol

yeah that is likely. i am just glad game didnt just die down after the first goal like yesterday.

in an ideal situation i would want morocco to win but french win would lead to a better quality final imo. i prefer matches where i know both teams can be dangerous throughout the game, france-england was probably my favorite match of the knockout stages even though last few minutes werent as exciting as some of the other ones.

I agree, you're obviously right.

When you have 2 top tier teams facing up, that's the best outcome.

Heart says Marrocos, mind says France!

Absolutely stunned Morocco came out with a significantly more open and attacking strategy from the start. Courageous team. They WANT this equalizer.

Meanwhile, La Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that the FPF has offered José Mourinho the possibility of coaching the national squad while simultaneously retaining his current job coaching AS Roma.

This could be nonsense, but I'd obviously LOVE Mourinho.

Mourinho was reportedly invited by the FPF to coach the national squad back in 2012 when Paulo Bento's contract was set to expire just prior to the qualifiers for the Euro 2012. He was also then offered the job while retaining his main gig at Real Madrid. Mourinho accepted but Florentino Perez did not, remarking at the time that "it wouldn't be ethical for him to have two jobs with so many unemployed coaches."

Despite his heydays likely being behind him, I believe Mourinho may have a lot more leverage right now at Roma then he did at Real.

Sure hire Mouinho for the Portugal national team.

If the goal is to draw a lot of hate to the team.

I'd LOVE Mourinho on the brazilian national team!

A better question would be, "how has Argentina managed to get so many penalties?"

They did at the start though. They purposefully went into this game with an offensive strategy, taking on that risk.

Because France ain't Portugal.

They don't play down to the level of their opponents.
