Its stress fractures or more intense shin splints. Assumes he's been playing through the pain for awhile and its gone too far. Only way to heal is to basically stop putting impact on them.

I'm going to guess a compartment decompression surgery, so he had shin splints (medial tibial stress syndrome) and this escalated to a compartment issue, which impact nerve/blood vessel function, requiring emergency surgery.

You are correct, surgery is not at all normal for a stress fracture.

Steph has had some crazy efficient stat lines this season, like tonight's- 38/7/7 on 58/50/100 fg%. Still ended up with -6 and a L, gotta be frustrating.
