Re: Justin Champagnie: "Free me"
I’m not sure how Justin scored 39 points even in g league lol. Must have been a lot of offensive boards
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars
Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid
There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

TD is probably still a Raptor if not for the incident. Even though he was in the doghouse at times, I still think they would have extended him based on his strong rookie year.

Nah TD was a disaster of a team defender. Never a Raptor.

Champagnie could help the squad honestly, he probably won't hunt shots like Garrison Trent Jr. or Frederick do.

Starting to think we have a very legitimate role definition problem on this iteration of the team.

Been obvious since last year.
We had Precious and Boucher looking off Scottie/Pascal on fastbreaks.

Exactly. Casey utilized his young guys, which led to the formation of the Bench Mob, and all of those guys turned out to be good/great players. If Nurse was the coach for Pascal's rookie year, there's no chance he would've played Pascal 15mpg like Casey did.
Casey had a seasoned starting lineup with a clear pecking order. Nurse doesn't have that roster construct. Also, Casey didn't let Pascal handle the ball. It was Nurse that finally gave him that opportunity and I'm pretty sure Pascal has talked about this. Finally, Nurse plays a rookie in his starting lineup, and gives minutes to 2nd round picks Banton and Koloko who are clearly raw, at times starting them. In a similar mold, Boucher has found an identity under Nurse and become a rotation player and Precious gets serious minutes despite clear limitations.
There really isn't evidence that Nurse doesn't develop young talent outside Malachi Flynn.

Time to give some other players a chance and see what we have.
What do we have to lose? We suck playing all the same guys.

Malachi Flynn should get a chance. He’s the only player on the roster shooting the 3 at a respectable rate.

You know the team is bad when this player is thinking he can turn around the team
Bad take. He's a part of this team and he's watching a trainwreck unfold in front of his eyes while feeling like he can contribute something to help them win but isn't even getting the chance. That can be frustrating.

Nurse truly is Thibs 2.0
I understand what you are saying, but at the same time the Raptors have terrible guard options behind VanVleet/Trent Jr.
Banton
Flynn
Dowtin
Harper Jr.
Yuck.
I don't think Banton is a terrible option. He put up 27pts/4r/4a/3s/2b in his first start (had 14pts in 13 min the game before). He got injured after that memorable first start, and he's been in Nurse's doghouse since. Kid was getting better and better, and showing flashes of a really good point guard, Nurse just killed his confidence and momentum.
When he finally got an opportunity to play again (against the Pels), he put up 7p/4a/3r/2s in only 9 minutes and had BY FAR the best +/- rating on the team (+8 in a game where lost by 18)! How did Nurse reward him??? With a DNP the next game, in the same game where Fred shot 4/14 (1/7 from three) and still played a team high 41 minutes. Fred had more fouls than FGMHow do you think Banton felt in that moment? He got DNP'd a couple more times after that and has been in Nurse's doghouse since.
I agree with you to an extent for sure. Nurse should play the bench guards more minutes, but I also think it is a pretty weak group of guards to say the least. I would like to see Banton/Dowtin at the very least soak up enough minutes to so VanVleet is not out there for 40 minutes a game. Those two at least fit in on defense. I am out on Flynn at this point because even if he hits some shots he gives it right back on the other end. Harper Jr. I imagine is not close to being ready.

I’m surprised Malachi is still so positive and encouraging on the bench, while continually being done dirty by Nurse.

Nurse took him out of the rotation after this incident and he never gave him another chance.

I'd be sick if I was him because he might very well not be in the league after this contract is over.
He can point to Nurse and Raps and say they ruined my career by not ever giving me a true shot.

Raptors are seen as one the best development teams in the league.

How many guys have developed under Nurse? Fred/Siakam/OG were all given minutes early in their careers when they weren't even that good under Casey.
If Nurse was the coach then, these guys probably wouldn't have even gotten a chance to play through their early career struggles. He needs to be better in this aspect or we need to point out that Masai has failed with half of the roster not being nba calibre. Which is it?
It can be neither. It can be a team that is working on a rebuild. Your expectations are the failure.

It's not like our bench is lighting it up anyways.
He can shoot 3s now? He was not even a decent 3 point shooter last season.
36% from 3 is elite for us.
Only thing worse than raptors 3% is 905 3%. Everyone is under 30% including JC, Dowtin and Harper...
