Maybe partly explains some of the problems South America is having.

South America's problems begin and end with corruption.

that's pretty much the case everywhere

Doubt this is happening. Hasn't trained with the team and surely not match fit.

It's not to play, he will come to watch the game.

Nowhere in the news it says the manager has given the green light for Benzema's return.
Also Benzema is not the only gun missing from this France's squad.

Imagine hearing "Roberto Carlos is taking a free kick and we would like you to stand in the wall."
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

Imagine if they ask you to stay under the wall as well haha.

Can't really prepare and could risk spinal damage.

I've seen Roberto Carlos play live a couple of times, back when he was in his first team (called União São João) and then with Palmeiras.

What I most remember from him is the way he threw the ball into the box using his hands from the side of the field, it was the same as a corner kick or a deep pass, like at 5'50'' onwards in this video:

Never seen a player do this with such force, before or after.

Some footballers have some insane strength and technique on those throws. A kid I played with in high school was actually able to do this. Not sure if they are born with this or trained.

Every time I tried, I felt like I was about to tear my shoulder haha

Looking back over the games I'm thinking France is going to win. They look much worse than they are because they don't really commit to any attacks when they're winning, usually it's just a solo run with a couple chasers. I really wonder what they'd look like with a different manager. I know you can't argue with Deschamps' results but the team has been so stacked I suspect a lot of other managers would have gotten results too playing less conservatively.

They look worse than they actually are due to their playstyle... they take more chances, play faster, aggressively, so this results in the opponent having their share of ball possession too.

France, IMO, is steamrolling their oponents in this WC... time will remember this french squad fondly, I'd say.

As I'm on a futebol watching video frenzy due to the WC, I'd like to ask you guys... do you remember Rene Higuita?

He was the goalkeeper of that amazing colombian team in the early/mid 90's, a team that had Rincón, Valderrama and others...

One of the most impressive goalies ever, certainly had a very unique, dangerous and flamboyant playing style than most are used to... even making FIFA substancially change rules.

I invite anyone to watch the videos and NOT feel amused with the "scorpion kick" move

Enjoy!

Just a suggestion, but why don't we have a separate thread for the finals?

It's official: Fernando Santos had the FPF post a goodbye message yesterday.

José Mourinho arrived in Faro, Algarve yesterday, to play in a friendly winter tournament with Roma. The word is that he was indeed approached for the job.

Rui Jorge, long-time U-21 national team coach, has been touted as the FPF's plan B.

The FPF has indicates that decisions will only be made public in January.

Anyone else try to go out and play some ball and realize you got no more mobility lol?

I'm still only in my early 30s. I played high school and during college recreational. Was never good by any means. But hell, now I can barely turn around lmao
