Not a bust, but the 6 really terrible games he had this season make him look bad
The 3 terrible years don't count? Because the aggregate of those 3 years makes him one of the worst 10 shooters who shoot more than 10 shots a game in the league.
Actually even more damning is that RJ has played more minutes than anyone in his draft class. So ... we have the most evidence of any player being bad for RJ.
It's easy to look at stats and make conclusions on a player as if he wasn't the youngest in the class and acting like there's no more room for improvement.
The numbers might show he hasn't improved but if you watch the games, you'll see he's not as limited as he once was. RJ just needs to figure it all out and make better decisions which is all doable. He is capable. He has added different facets to his game compared to before and he has been shooting FTs a lot better.
You can see he was trying to add things to his game that he's not good at and it's why his numbers suck, because he keeps trying to expand his skillset even though he's not ready to execut them at a high level. This year he's been taking more mid range shots, shooting 3s off the dribble. He has mainly improved at his catch and shoot 3s, especially in the corner and has been a little better at finishing.
He has improved especially recently. You can't just point to his terrible games. He's had a lot of good moments as well and is slowly improving his game. Once he puts it all together which I think he's gonna get there, it'll be awesome to watch. He is still only 22.
