I know everyone is happy for Messi, but I'm so freakin happy for Di Maria. One of my all time favorites. I thought he was taken out of the game too early. Amazing game for him.

Messi didn't look the same without him. Di Maria really is/was Messi's Pippen.

Think that title belongs to Emi Martinez.

Martinez is a dick with his "mind games" (throwing ball away and no card), but he is the MVP of the final. Crazy save in Extra Time and his performance in the penalties agains NED and FRA was incredible.

Lloris is absolutely hopeless.

France will be consider under achiever considering the talent they have; but they could not play their A team for various reasons prime being the coach's stubbornness

France absolutely wasted a half. Credit to Argentina for the attack but no counter, no shots on goal from France was damning.

Did so well to get back in it time and again, but the only brief time France was ahead was when Mbappe scored the first shootout goal.

Even in extra time Argentina were the more aggressive to get ahead first. Same pattern of France back on their heels.

Were they expecting Argentina to start more tentatively? Looked shocked and not well prepared for the onslaught. Made the most of most of their counters but playing from behind for a whole game is so tough, only for Mbappe heroics and youth inexperience in shootouts to be the defining points.

how Lloris didnt save Dybala's PK is mind bending

i know easy for me to say from here but that looked VERY savable and they needed one from Lloris.

Definitely agree Di Maria was taken out too early, he was playing great, was creating a lot up front.

Congratulations to Argentina and the little Goat.

Overall showed better football and way better fighting spirit over 120 minutes, so I think it's deserved.

Lloris is normally a good penalty stopper. He's saved some huge ones for Spurs in the Champions League.

I don't know what the deal was. Nerves, exhaustion, I couldn't say. He's a World Cup winner and a club legend, so I can't really say I want him to leave or to push him out. But we do need a successor in place.

Had it not been for 3 piss poor 7-8 minutes stretches against Saudia, Netherlands, and France, this Argentina team looked dominant.

All three penalties looked 'dubious'. Messi one, Lloris just sold himself. Second down the middle, not even with power (compare this with the French guy having to blast it) and then to top it off... he can't parry that one.

Meanwhile, Martinez was doing dirty stuff and getting in their heads.

I don't know what happened to Lloris... but he has been a weak link for a few seasons. He plays for Baphomet's team... so I am sure he's familiar with his declining performances.

He's still a good shot stopper but his kicking and decision making have sharply declined, and they weren't particularly elite in the first place.
