Re: Porzinga! Kristaps Porzingis appreciation thread.
I've been following KP from the very beginning in New York to Dallas and now the Wizards. He's absolutely playing at an All-Star level this year. He's been killing it but he really seems to be hitting his stride in the last 6-7 games to the point where the opposition is doubling and triple teaming him as soon as he gets the ball. He's improved in so many areas like rebounding, assists, scoring around the basket against smaller (low gravity) players. His mid range game has gone to another level, he's almost unstoppable when he gets it going, which he has in the last couple of weeks.
His defence it back up to being in the upper level of the league. He moves extremely well for a 7'3" guy, he may have lost a tad of the freakish athleticism hat he had prior to his injuries but he's no slouch when it comes to defending in open spaces. He's always been an outstanding two way player, he gives as much effort on defence than on the offensive side of the ball which can be a rarity.
I hope he continues to be healthy because he is so fun to watch. Now, you guys need to find some more 3 and D guys who can make their shots and defend. You also need to shore up that second unit, they've been awful. They've lost so many leads that I've lost count. Having said this, you guys are on the right track, keep her going.

Thanks Jethro, I gotta disagree with that last sentence. This team is definitely not on the right track. Porzingis is one of the few silver linings, but the rest of this team is way to lousy for them to be trying to win now. The Wizards should blow it up and rebuild. They must trade Beal and probably Kuzma too.
Whether or not Porzingis should be moved is a tougher call. I'd be willing to keep Porzingis through a rebuild, but I'd also be willing to trade him if the offer was good enough. The big concern about Porzingis is health. It might be wise to sell high on him.

Porzingis could help a team win a championship. I don't see that happening here, so for his sake I hope we sell high and he goes somewhere and gets a chance to play meaningful games in May.

Imagine if New Orleans landed Scoot Henderson though. What an insane lineup:
PG Scoot/Daniels
SG McCollum/Jones
SF Ingram/Murphy
PF Zion/Nance Jr.
C Valanciunas/Hayes

If KP is happy here I don't have an issue paying him. He's playing at a very high level. His osuee is health I hop that gets us a slight discount. But If we got an altar for nothing but the dead bones of burtans and Mr. Crypto locker room destroyer. **** it pay the man and move on. Tommy made one hell of a trade there.

No he's not.
Occasionally, not very often, he puts up an incredible game. & he's incredibly talented. No one doubts that.
But... "playing at a very high level" overall this season? No.
Just for starters, he isn't playing anywhere near as well this year as he did in 17 games as a Wizard last year. It isn't even close:
he's scoring fewer points.
He's scoring his points at a lower TS%.
He's getting fewer defensive rebounds.
He's getting fewer offensive rebounds.
He's getting fewer assists.
He's turning the ball over more.
This year, in short, he's playing at about the level he played at in Dallas last year & the year before.
If you think he was awesome those two years, ask yourself why Dallas traded him for so little -- & added a R2 pick to make it happen!
No one questions KP's talent. At his best, he's unbelievable.
Overall, however, his actual performance -- this year & on his career as a whole -- is not particularly good at all.
Sometimes, you bet. Overall, no.

Spencer Dinwiddie had a terrific close of the season last year with Dallas, & he is having a terrific season this year.
Do you think Dallas fans & the Dallas FO view the trade quite the way you do? No I guess not....

Re: Porzinga! Kristaps Porzingis appreciation thread.
What would make anyone think KP is playing well?
We are 11-20.
Did KP play well last night vs. the Lakers?
How about vs the Clippers 2 days ago?
Didn't play vs. the Nuggets
Maybe against the Nets?
Home game against the Clippers?
Loss to the Pacers?
Loss to the Bulls?
Previous loss to the Lakers?
Hornets loss?
Loss in Brooklyn?
He had a great game vs. Minnesota -- no doubt about it!
Loss to Boston?
Loss to the Heat?
Previous loss to the Heat?
How about our victory over Charlotte (4-19, 4 TOs...)
Our 1-point win over Miami?
Our 1 point loss to OKC?
There's a great game in there.
There are a couple of other good games too.
Mostly, however, KP was p#ss poor in those 17 games.
He was somewhat better in some of the previous 14 games.
Among the reasons that we are 11-20 is the fact that KP hasn't been a good player so far this year.

Re: Porzinga! Kristaps Porzingis appreciation thread.
Note that the above posts offer up nothing more than a set of facts.
All I'm doing is putting facts where anyone can look at them easily -- anyone who wants to.
But, if a person prefers to say that, "Oh yeah, KP is playing great" (despite, for example, shooting 7-18 last night), no one can stop anyone from saying that. Or anything.
Like, for example, "we're a point guard away."

KP perked up the instant this moron of a coach played he and Gafford with Kuzma.
The Wizards have MORE THAN ENOUGH but I’m f’n sick of arguing w stoopids(Twitter, bulletsforever HERE)
Look at two man data and three man IF POPCORN MACHINE or 82games or anything not behind a paywall exists. That and groupthink kill me.
KP is tryna play thru sore knees. He’s got HOF talent on the right team ESPECIALLY WITH THE RIGHT COACH

payitforward wrote:Dat2U wrote:...WUJ probably dreamt of coming home to coach the Wizards but in reality ...he's stuck with a bad and leaderless roster the best coaches would likely fail with.
To me, this says it all.
The other side of this see saw -- to balance the insistence on over-criticizing/blaming WUJ -- is the seemingly unshakable conviction that Kristaps Porzingis is playing really well (or well at all for that matter). He's not.
Compared to his time as a Wizard last season, KP's
points scored are down
TS% is down
Offensive rebounds are down
Defensive rebounds are down
Assists are down
Blocks are down
Turnovers are up
His steals are slightly up & his fouls are slightly down. But it's not nearly enough to make up for the drop in the rest of his numbers.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not questioning KP's talent.
It's not surprising me at all. I've been saying it in the last couple weeks that KP is forcing the game, takes so many contested shots, hand on the face, off the dribble from the post, tough angels with no more than 1-2 passes for an offensive possession. And yes maybe he puts them in somehow and then people say: but look, he's efficient and makes buckets.. But in the end these are bad % shots, which leads to bad basketball and gets the other guys cold. I've seen him start passing a little bit more in the last several games, but it's not happen enough, especially when someone comes to double. And even when he does pass, we're not a good enough shooting team. But when you're starting pass the ball more, and trust your teammates, the chances players will raise up their level, are higher.
The blocks are down cause he struggles with his slow legs to catch up with fast players, and opponents take advantage of it. He's a better rim protector when he's parking in the paint. When he's out because of P&R / transition / defending a shooter he's struggling. The assists are down also because of what I've written before. He's definitely not playing as good as people say, and it may be true also about Kuz as well. Actually Beal has started playing very well lately as a PG, but these two KP and Kuz, are last station, so selfish. The chances they will pass the ball is very low, and that's affecting everyone..
For summarizing. No question KP is very talented. Does he get the right decisions on offense? I'd say less.

Why would he opt out of 36M for 3/90? Just injury concerns?

It gets him a secured pay day while getting him back on the market in 2026 when the cap will explode. I could see him making 200M+ over the next 6-7 years.

I don't have a desire to get into a war of attrition with pif but his KP slander is just false go to real gm and look at the stats your self. Also that 16 games was part of a season where he played half hi games else where you have to look at the his season as a whole.

because they have S for coach and this is a chicken S organization; they're all gonna jump ship.
See Maryland Women's Basketball team player Angel Reese and player Ashley Owusu. Brenda Frese is a HOF coach but she blamed the players. I know A LOT about this so if you disagree I don't care don't waste energy in discussing.
THE PLAYERS will get max money and away from here WITH THE QUICKNESS.
MY OPINION: Damn shame status quo is all that matter.
SHOULD FIRE ALL the coaches and Tommy and the ENTIRE FREAKING Staff and give a competent leader who knows the ability to staff about 6 people to 12 eventually but ONLY 3 besides the coach.
Bill Russell was a player coach.
BEAL SHOULD BE THE PLAYER COACH BUT THEN HIS BS would not be tolerated by other teammates.
Nah, the Wizards don't want this.

I like KP and I'll be said when the Wizards IDIOT COACH plays him too many minutes while LOSING EVERY DAMN GAME.
Opt out and charge the most like BEAL. Cripple the franchise and they'll still worship YOU.

BECKY or is it KAREN coach blocked me.
Do you want to know something? Remember Shakira Austin was at Maryland... BEFORE HER I BEFRIENDED via social media the mother of JENNA STAITI who went on to have a terrific career at U GA.
Brenda talk that talk but soon as she get a white/biracial girl in to supplant ASHLEY OWUSU, Katie Benson gets all the shine. DISLOYAL TO A GREAT KID WHO COULD HAVE GONE ANYWHERE and put blame on Ashley weight.
Brenda has ALWAYS BEEN A BAD TACTICIAN against good team. SW Missouri smoked the once. TEXAS in the NCAAs was a coaching travesty nightmare.
STOOPId coaches get marquee talent only to play a 7-8 player rotation. WTF!
Recruit the best only to treat like the chili in lunch...blame it tastes bad or is cold BUT NEVER THE CHEF/leader/coaches.
THIS SEASON with a bunch of mercenaries Brenda's doing okay BUT IT IS ONLY THE LEADERS ON THE COURT not allowing coach to stink AND ENOUGH GOT INJURED to where the nitwit cannot make bad choices (BUT SHE STILL DOES). Pinson over the athletic gir?
I'm out.
ANGEL REESE CLOWNING and they blamed...her...last season. OKay
