Great cast of then-unknowns, fun dialogue from start to finish, just enough bits of action, and the whole thing is a little bit offbeat but not weird. If you're into not-quite-mainstream stuff, I recommend.

Great film and the soundtrack is really good as well.

sadly this band just hasn't been the same since 'And Justice For All'. If you took every single above average song from every album after that you'd get one good album that still isn't as good as those before the "Black Album'. I think after losing Cliff and his creativity, the rest of the band only had so much left and used almost all of it on 'And Justice..." Even the good songs on the rest of the albums sound like a completely different band. But hey, we'll always have those handful of first albums and they're God tier.

I caught a couple really good season finales last night.

It took me a few episodes to get into season 2 of White Lotus but ended up on board and really enjoyed it. And the season finale last night was an absolute tour de force. Blew me away.

Also, I don't know if anyone watched Showtime's "Let the Right One In" series. I saw the movie(s) when they came out years ago and this is a new take on it. There were some things I might have changed about it but on the whole it was really good, worth watching and had some very memorable scenes throughout the season. And the finale last night ended with a crazy twist that has me excited for season 2.

Please tell me about it?

It's from the 80s. I found a trailer. Just look at the alien and the child alien. Looks real, I like most of the effects. I mean, it's from the 80s so look at it from that perspective. The story is good but I can see why people may not like it.

I know that I may be biased because I first saw it as a kid, but I still really like it. I see the effects that may seem cheesy today, but I can see the excellent work for that time, I know Alien and Terminator movies and such. I don't know who did the work on the baby alien and its movements, but it really looks like a real baby, they put in some good work. When he's feeding it, sure with today's eyes it's a little stiff but just look at the tongue popping in and out. I dunno, I like the movie a lot. :D

If you watch it, can you tell me what you think? Tell me what I'm missing or overlooking that makes people overlook it. I was surprised it was on tv, I rarely see it and it used to be hard to find a stream.

Growing up I remember this movie being on HBO a lot! Watched it probably a half dozen times or more with my dad. Hadn’t thought of it in years either…

I'm only a few episodes in but that Wednesday show on Netflix is a lot of fun. I thought it would just be general Wednesday Addams hijinx with not much point to it, but there's actually a solid plot to sink your teeth into and a mystery to solve.

It might be a little scary for very young kids and go over their head, but nothing super objectionable in my judgement. You can definitely tell it's a Tim Burton production and I get a Harry Potter vibe too. So it's a good watch for older kids/teens/families, but I'm an adult with no kids and loving it so far.

And I can tell why that Jenna Ortega girl has become a big star, she is very adorable and totally nails the part.

'Banshees of Inisherin' on HBO Max is brilliant. The guy who wrote and directed it, Martin McDonagh, wrote 'In Bruges', 'Seven Psychopaths' and wrote and directed 'Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing, Missouri' It's got Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson (both in In Bruges as well) as well as Barry Keoghan

Just caught Avatar 2 with my son in Dolby digital IMAX. The story is the same basically but this is hands down from a technical aspect the best movie my eyes have seen. The 3D is unbelievable, just stunning, and I don't like movies in 3D. A must watch in the theatre especially if you have older kids, it's a bit violent.

Haven't gone through this thread but absolutely don't miss out on the mini-series The North Water.

Colin Farrell is awesome, terrifying, just my favorite role I've seen him in. Tightly written script, excellent cinematography, and casting/acting couldn't of been better.

Intense, harrowing, gritty, and dark story nobody I hear talks about.

For me 9.2 IMDb scale

Wrapped up 1899 last night. This type of sci-fi genre right up my alley. I need more of this in my life. The exception to Netflix garbage out there.

I read the above just after watching episode 2. I thought the series was impressive from the beginning. The Wednesday character is unique, and it's hard not to fall in love with it (especially if you're an introvert). This kid Jenna Ortega was born to be her -- the way she walks, her gaze, the deadpan delivery, etc. The cinematography is first rate too, along with the mood (Tim Burton-Danny Elfman). But I wasn't happy about how the plot developed from there on out:
Spoiler:
a cocktail of Harry Potter, Stranger Things, the Twilight saga, monsters, zombies, etc. (I liked the homage to "Carrie" though)
I expected the series to be cerebral until the end, built around the witty dialogue, but it ended up being anything but.

I may be the only person who feels let down, though

If anyone needs a movie that new Top Gun is pretty awesome. Thought I'd be mildly entertained but I loved it. Definitely a crowd pleaser.

For All Mankind on Apple TV is really good.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

I found an excellent new show on Amazon that seems to be going under the radar. It's a British series called The Devil's Hour.

Which, the title sounds like horror but I'd describe it more as a twisty, suspenseful psychological mystery/thriller with some scary-ish supernatural elements. The plot and characters are very intriguing and the acting is great. I was hooked by the 2nd episode and I'm excited to finish it up tonight.

Who killed Santa (Netflix) will give you a laugh or two. With Jason Bateman and Will Arnett. Adult Christmas
Murder mystery. Only 50 minutes long which was nice.

This is hilarious. Was a great year for standup there were a lot of new specials and I learned about a lot of younger comics. Sheng Wang reminds me of Mitch Hetberg his new special on Netflix was good too!

Anybody here a fan of 'Derry Girls'? What a riot of a show, lol. Three seasons, has just finished while on top of its game. Some of the characters are brilliant (Uncle Colm, Michelle, Sister George Michael, the space cadet girl, etc.). On Netflix.

Glass Onion on Netflix was so fun. Edward Norton is at the top of his game. Janelle Monae was also excellent headlining an ensemble cast that was really good from top to bottom.
