We went through half a decade of tanking for homegrown talent, create a successful team with said talent, sprinkled in a few stars (Butler, Horford, Tobias), then eventually wholesale buried all homegrown talent with boring journeymen from a contending Rockets team 4 years ago. Embiid and Harden are (for the most part) always fun to watch. Tobias is a bit boring, but plays well. PJ, House, Harrell, sometimes Niang… very boring. With Maxey out, there is no real youth intrigue and our team is not playing like a top tier team.

I totally get the boredom aspect.

This. And having arguably the biggest playoff collapse artist as our head coach doesn't help matters.

To be fair to the Sixers, I'm bored by pretty much everything right now and was just chalking it up to age/stress. The Eagles are so good that they're boring to me too.

My interest in this team has been renewed. Excited to see how the team adjusts when Maxey is back. This feels like the last opportunity for a lot of these guys to have a real shot.

As a plus, Tobias’ value is really turning positive. Melton looks like a real championship contributor. Shake is definitely in the rotation. Would like to see Thybulle step it up, or trade him for a okongwu level backup C.

Gimme Derozan, Drummond, Caruso for Tobias, Thybulle, Milton, Springer, ‘29 1st.

Harden Maxey Derozan Tucker Embiid
Caruso Melton House Reed Drummond

I liked the offseason moves and was relatively excited, but this team always seems to be less than the sum of its parts.

Also, I don't watch the college game at all, but went to Penn-Temple 2 weekends ago at the Palestra. It was amazing. So much more energy and intensity, half-court press D almost every time up the floor. They were scratching and clawing for every play. It was way more fun than I expected, like a whole different game from the pros. Everyone says that but I didn't really believe it until now.

no not trading for a 33yr old sg that does not shoot 3pt

I still watch when I can. I agree with most here that this team as currently constructed isn't a title contender. That said, call me overly optimistic but I don't think that the cupboard is as bare of tradable assets as many believe. Given the fact that Tobias has not only elevated his play as of late as well as that his contract isn't as immovable as it was a year ago, I think he can be moved at some point before the deadline for 2 or 3 better fitting pieces. We also have Springer, Reed and Thybulle who while highly unlikely to bring us another star player still have value around the league. I know that some like Kobble are strongly adverse to trading Springer, but let's be real, the kid is never going to get a fair shot under Rivers. That's a fact. If he's not contributing, what's the point of holding on to him?

As far as Rivers goes, I have little faith that his coaching will lead us to a title, but I think we can all agree that he'll still be our coach at least until the end of the season. Assuming Morey assembles the right fitting pieces around him, maybe a blind squirrel will find a nut (a la Boston in 2008) if you catch my drift.

That trade on 538 bumps our chip odds by 10%. Even if you don't believe in their model, it's significant

This is the least interested I've been in the team since Eddie Jordan was the coach. I've missed watching more games this season than the last 12 seasons combined. It's everything Mik said plus Glenn Rivers just detracts from my enjoyment in the team. I like most of you fellas so I check the forum pretty regularly but I can't find it in me to care about the team.

To be honest right now the most fun I’ve watched is this year is when Korklord rocks up for a couple of minutes lol If the whole team could bottle that irrational confidence we’d be going places.

After years of sacrifice when we were still pliable and had a bounty of assets, we had Colangelo and Brown at the wheel making executive decisions. That is where we truly Fd up

Add Brand into the mix for trading for and bidding against himself with Tobias and Horford both of whom ultimately cost us first rounders.

For years now, the NBA has had internal morale issues and low interest levels from their own players (particular superstars that are SUPPOSED to be promoting the league and feigning enthusiasm if they must). It's only natural that it would eventually bleed out into their fans.

I think Christmas is right around the time my interest kicks up a notch. It's essentially the "real" opening day.

Early season NBA games struggle because the least intense portion of the season is matched up with the intensity of postseason baseball and the live or die nature of the NFL season. This is especially true in Philly this year.

Christmas day and the trade deadline get the players and fans dialed in.

I'm bored too but it's because I find Harden's playstyle aesthetically equivalent to paint drying. I know it's a blunt tool that leads to incredibly effective offense but it's not beautiful basketball. So I'm running through the motions watching this team in the regular season knowing that this team is built to win in the playoffs if Joel can avoid getting hurt.

It’s mostly to do with age. When you get old, you have other priorities unlike when you were much younger. I am so busy with work and kids I have barely watched a full game. Going to cancel my league pass next season..

This is true to an extent but I've had work, wife, and child for well over 10 years and this season is particularly dull.

I have been gradually losing interest in the NBA product in general but I don't think that's why.

Honestly the NBA treating us like the ugly step child is what killed my joy for this team. There was a chart on reddit a week or so ago that showed the Sixers were one of the most hated teams in all of sports. It gets exhausting constantly defending the team against fans that hate them for whatever reason. You can see it in how our team is officiated. If pascal was on our team and doing that same push off move, he'd foul out every game.

It's also the product at times. Remember when the season was already determined just a few years ago? I mean you knew it was going to be whatever team Lebron is on vrs The Warriors. Thank goodness we've at least gotten past that in a sense, although I personally thought Boston would run the league this year and they are. The games themselves have gotten and can be quite predictable. The way so many of them are decided by the officials these days just takes the fun out of it. It's more aggravating than anything. Take the other night for example...This **** is like pro wrestling. Tobias Harris hits a fall away three where he is fouled. We're looking at a four point play and BALL GAME right there....Buh..Buh...But WAIT "The refs have discovered a different foul occured! Nick Nurse is challenging the call on the floor, OMG this is HUGE!!!! AND THE CALL HAS BEEN REVERSED!!! OFFENSIVE FOUL!!! ON PJ Tucker"!!!!!! It's like WTF MAN????? Did the ref have his back turned? Believe it or not, moments like that have become quite predictable in the games. They want these games exciting, they want ratings, and I truly believe that the games are altered because of that by the officials. They pull the same stuff in the NFL. I'm far from a conspiracy theorist here, but this **** is getting ridiculous. I literally am to the point where the NFL is basically just a no go for me. The ONLY reason I invested in it this year is because my team was actually winning games up until about three weeks ago and now they just suck....BTW Chiefs/Eagles Super Bowl...Book it. Top two MVP candidates going at it.
Now...Am I currently bored with this season? Yeah...Right now, but I do think some good points have been made about it picking up steam after Christmas. I usually get more involved with it myself around February. I start to really pay attention to all the rosters, teams, and I check the scores and standings at a regular rate. I will always be a fan of the NBA and the Sixers, but the "thrill" of it has waned over the years and I think that is also due to (like others stated) maturing, age, priorities, and just time.
