He was laid off but went to the higher ups and told them sources said he wasn't laid off and they bought it.

Since someone bumped this I’m implored to remind everyone that Bart Winkler was the best radio guy we’ve ever had in this market and his podcast is even better. Give him a shot

Nick Van Exel (LAL) on defending the Stockton-Malone pick-and-roll: "Yeah,
I got a way to defend it. Bring a bat to the game and kill one of them."

What a mess. Certainly explains why BSWI's production is so poor. And why their app sucks (so I hear, I don't use it). I don't really care where or how I get Bucks/Basketball, I want to it be reliable, I want to be able to record it in case I'm not home when the game starts. I want to be able to pause and rewind when watching live. Amazon gives you most of that with their Thursday night games. If you sign on late it gives you the option to start from the beginning (and then fast forward until you catch up) or just start watching live. If you come online late you can also do a highlights thing where it will show you the highlights and then take you to live action (I haven't tried that yet). And I believe they archive the games, at least for awhile so if you miss the whole game live you can still watch it. And how about some 4K sports.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Apple and Amazon have the two best sports broadcasts. It's wild to watch an NFL game on Amazon and see it come through faster and clearer than an over the air broadcasts. I'd be ecstatic if either of those big companies acquired league rights.

Yeah, as much as I'm against the increasing dystopian monopolization of all entertainment media into a handful of all-powerful corporations......just give me a reliable game broadcast without blackouts, for **** sake. Take my money Bezos.

So should we expect an interruption in games?

I doubt it. Bankruptcy will reorganize debts but broadcasting games (ads) are their only source of revenue.

The game last night really put into perspective how much much better it is watching with good announcers (like the Pelicans have). Antonio Daniels is so good. As much as I love Marques, I can't stand Lisa, and Zora isn't that much better.

Listened to Jim Owczarski today on The Game...hard to believe this is the best JSO/The Bucks can do for a beat reporter. Dude sounds like an absolute casual when discussing the Bucks. Knew nothing of substance beyond what an eye test would tell a 5 year old.

He is an absolute casual, and not just the Bucks, but basketball in general.
Posted it a while back but he was a panelist for the 75 greatest players ever thing and his top 75 was so hilariously bad you’d think he was trolling. He had Westbrook 17th all time above the likes of Dirk, Dr J, Jerry West, Barkley lol. Durant 6th above Kareem, Bill Russell, Duncan, Shaq, etc. Barkley and Dr J in the 40s.
It is WILD he is paid to write about basketball.

I, also, am as big a corporate skeptic as you can find, but I will do almost anything if it means I never have to hear Novak on the call again.

Owczarski was one of 57 Packers beat writers and was moved to the Bucks when Velazquez left. Not good.

If the NBA sells their local team rights nationally to say an Amazon or the like, it will be very interesting to see how that money gets divided up among the franchises.
While how you watch the game is important to us, it is more important that Milwaukee figure out how to get a larger percentage of the revenue, if their local games are sold with a national package. Right now teams like LA and Houston have massive local TV deals that they get to pocket. I'm not sure how you divide it up. Could be better for the Bucks.
On that note, the only reason Green Bay has an NFL team is because Pete Rozelle sold the entire league as a package to the networks and agreed to divide the revenue equally. Had the NFL gone the MLB route (i.e. every man for himself on local broadcast rights), Green Bay would have been long gone.

Sunday Ticket is cool if you are a big fan of an out of market team. And of course bars pay for it too. Otherwise Red Zone is much better.

The direct tv service is so bad. I haven't been able to get it to work on my phone or tv all season. I have to cast games from my computer. I'll gladly welcome a competent service from one of google, apple or amazon to take over rights.

Ozarski is the literal worst, has no right to be Bucks beat writer.
