I think we get worse short and long term . Jamal’s pretty overrated

At this point might as well keep him, he is the perfect tank commander leading from the front.

I agree about short-term if there aren't any other moves.
I think long-term is less clear since long-term with Murray is only 2 more years at $34M and $36M. I'm not sure I want to be going long-term with Fred when it will be more money and more years.

Our best bet is to tank and trade FVV and GTJ for assets.

Time to Trade Fred VanVleet II
Fred’s value is pretty low right now. He would be a piece, but not the piece to move. If you can get a haul for Pascal, I would move him and then fred/gary in separate deals

Re: Time to Trade Fred VanVleet II
First I like both Fred and Gary, their games and as players but they or their agents have over valued them into trouble.
I would try and have a real talk with FVV and say you can still start as off ball guard but we will not give you contract you want. Please tell us if you want a trade then?
I would package GTJ + Khem + Flynn to Utah = Kelly O + Jordan C. We send first and they send second pick.
Kelly is as good as Khem on Def but give us a Marc G type C on offense and really shoots 3 well at 40+%. Just 4-5 a game and when Otto comes back we get more floor space. Jordan is a very good 6th man but is older and is being played too much now to expose his Def.
This helps Rebounding and let’s CK get some 905 run when PA comes back. Clarkson handles are better than GTJ too which improves scorer role.
SB FVV OG PS KO Jordan C Ott CB PA I like this 9 short and medium term. In Jan I would like to see us give some rotation Mins off bench to Justin C to see if his 3 pointers can help with his Def/rebounding too? Part of this is can you play SB, Fred, OG, PS a little less during games so they can be fresher for the final parts of the game?
Kelly might not play end of games but can give you productive mins in the first 40 that helps the team through whole game. Most of our games are losses in 1,2 or 3 Q with scoring draughts and I think both these players could help reduce the droughts.

Re: Time to Trade Fred VanVleet II
I always hear the media refer to a core 4. While I do agree there’s a core 4 I think the members are getting mixed up. I think masai considers the core 4 to be Scottie, Pascal, OG and precious. People forget just how high he was on precious. He tried to get a draft pick in order to select him, he said you’re mine now once he got him from the heat. He was following precious for years. Precious is a great defender, a work in progress offensively but still developing and on a rookie contract.
The guys getting moved are Fred, Gary, Thad, Otto, and anyone else outside of the real core 4. And I think people will be surprised by how much we get back.

I have no desire to keep Fred. I do think his value will surprise people if we do trade him.

It's a gamble but the team clearly isn't going anywhere with FVV. I don't think the Nuggets entertain this because the theoretical version of Murray is much better than both these players and they probably want to give their lineup atleast one playoff run together.
Oh and the Nuggets are 19-11 with a pretty terrible version of Murray and basically no MPJ. They don't need to make a move like this.

It's not going to get higher considering he's a free agent.

IMO Fred has positive value as part of a consolidation package for an upgrade at some position, but he also isn't going to net you either a star, or premium picks/prospects in a trade.

Re: Time to Trade Fred VanVleet II
I only see maybe 5 teams that he fits realistically and 2 of those are Chicago & Washington who are in our range in standings. Top 8 in East is solidified already. You got to make a move now or wait for S&T I guess. I don't expect a great return but I'm willing to sell at a perceived loss in order to move this forward.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

FVV/GTJ being on player option deals really tanks their value imo.
