-We've talked about Samanic a little bit on here. IDK, maybe it was just this game or maybe he was playing with an injury or something. But in this video he is showing no hustle, no energy or effort - especially on defense.

The commentator even calls out how at one point he puts his head down and starts walking slowly towards the bench after getting dunked on.

-Valentine looks good out there. Good handle, creating off the dribble and nailing 3's. Passable on D. On the season he's shooting 42% from 3 on 7 attempts per game.

-LOVE the emotion/fire/passion by Kabengele after he makes the game winning layup. Man, he's pumped! You gotta love the body language with him - always seems fired up and into the game - the opposite of Samanic.

-The 3 guys on our team who look like they could be NBA players are Valentine, Kabengele and Davison. Additional depth for the Boston squad is in Maine and developing, if we need them..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

I wish JD was westbrook/ja level cocky. since sl I have been saying he isn't consistently aggressive enough on offense. he has so many shots or driving opportunities for his own scoring and he passes them up too much. he could get inside at will, they leave him open from 3 like he's a 90s big. I LOVE his pace. I'm not saying be selfish, I'm saying I don't think he can be stopped enough that would make him be as hesitant as he is.

no shade to valentine and shayok nem, because it's a winning formula, but jd has the baby big boy contract, he needs to go for his more like they do. when he just goes for it, it just looks like it's easy. he could still average 6 assists going for his, that would open up things even more IMO. He has moments where he looks like he thinks, "watch me work!" and it's tantalizing, but he wont do it consistently, its like he's afraid of his own greatness at times. if Pritchard can try and feast with excellent players out there (guy is willing to shoot anything), then JD should do it in the gl! I believe he has IT, does he know he can show it at all times, thats what the best players do.

as i was typing this up he has been more aggressive and no shock, he's been leading maine back. I'm not talking just this game tho.

edit: he needs to be more aggressive on D too. also has a jb tendency to ball-watch and get cut on.

Kabengele bringing them back with serious energy but was sucking wind before that substitution too.

Celtics lost (looks like a theme recently). But JD had a triple double. Kabengele added 29 and 8.

You can see the upside with JD, clear as day. It pops off the screen, especially his burst getting to his spots with the ball and making plays.

And he just turned 20!

And we got him with the 53rd pick!

The definition of low risk, high reward.

If this guy learns to play respectable team defense, he can maybe become a future rotation player for the Cs. Love his energy and passion.

Highlights from our last game:

:01 woah. Man, very first play of the game, Kabengele jumps out of the gym, gets his hand way up high to throw down the lob dunk, damn!

1:03 nice cut here by JD, good finish for the and-1

3:04 really like the touch-pass here by JD. That's the type of stuff we like to see. Quick passes, quick decisions with the ball. Get the ball and move it quick, find the open man quick. Thought I was watching Derrick White on this play

3:45 nice drive and kick here by JD. Again, this is a quick decision. He started to drive, but after just 1 dribble, moved it quickly to the open man for a quick shot.

4:09 beautiful basketball here, man. JD sees that he has a bigger defender on him who is slow and unathletic so he tries to take him off the dribble, help defender comes over, leaving Kabengele open under the basket - JD makes the right basketball play, throws up a perfect lob for Kabengele who gets high above the rim for like his 4th lob dunk already this game

4:30 yikes, really bad defense here by Valentine, wow. Guess this is why he's in the g league

5:06 gotta love the energy and passion from Kabengele. We're up by over 20 here in the 4th quarter yet he is still PUMPED after making this and-1

5:38 very encouraging here from Kabengele. He is only shooting 26% from 3 on the season, down from like 40% last season. His FT% is down this season as well. So it's encouraging to see him hit this one. Form looks solid on this shot, pretty smooth on the catch and shoot. If he can start shooting it better, it could really help his chances of making it in the NBA

Watching this vid, it looks like we've got 2 guys who can potentially help this celtics team. JD and Kabengele. I'm sure Brad is monitoring their progress and staying in touch with them. If we have a game(s) here and there over the course of the rest of the season where we have multiple guards or multiple bigs out, JD or Fi could be called on for some meaningful minutes.

And long term, JD definitely has some good potential. Him and Begarin are both just 20 yrs old, both can play fast, up tempo basketball, both very good athletes, who can move the ball quick. Hopefully they both spend a good chunk of the upcoming summer working with Ben Sullivan on their shooting :)
