for me back in the day it was when Jordan dropped 63. That dribble against Larry Legend was perfection.

Recently it was when I saw Donovan Mitchell have the fight of a 10 year veteran in his first playoffs for the Jazz.

Dame his rookie year when Portland had no bench and he played so composed like a vet is a runner up.

Name a star and the time when you were sold on them.

november 27 1965
i had to look it up

that was the day freshman lew alcindor and his "brubabes" faced the ucla championship team from the previous year (minus goodrich&erickson but they were expected to be #1 anyway). the brubabes clouted the varsity 75-60 and lew had a 30/20 double, and his frosh team was crowned the best college basketball team in the ncaa....and that's the weight he had to carry throughout his career

everything lew was touted to be,,,,,,WAS!

sophomore bill walton faced the 7' kerry twins of purdue. he grabbed a board and while in midair did 100° turn and threw a 3/4 court strike to a breaking greg lee

Who is the closest player to Bill Walton you’ve seen?

tough one, walton was a complete player. scoring, passing, defense blocks, rebound, WINNER, all wrapped in a quick athleticly quick body - maybe robinson. there are others but either lacking on defense or something. jokic is slow and plays NO defense, walton's strength was he was a complete player.

maybe tim...tim never cared about numbers either, just winning.
you know when they just care about winning is when they can score whenever they want but they don't, i'd say tim was like that. yeah,,,tim's a better choice

I always get called a Shaq hater on RealGM but for me i think this was the most impressive individual game of his entire career and my favorite game of his:

Everyone talked or still talks about MJ dropping 64 on a sprained wrist and nobody talks about Shaq's monster performance which led them to a victory. 29 pts.....24 REBOUNDS!! 5 BLOCKS vs the defending champions on the road

I already knew Shaq was a obvious can't miss star, so it's not like I discovered a new star. But after this game I said:

"If they ever meet in the playoffs at some point this guy is gonna be a major problem for the Bulls....they can't force him to shoot bricks in the clutch like Ewing, he can set up wherever he damned well feels like.....hes a absolute immovable monster"

2 years later I was proven right.

JT was good from his first Summer League game but this dunk in the ECF's and the way he went at Bron all series as a rookie told me he had the fire in him to be great.

i’ve never had this happen. my fault though because i have a anti young guys mentality. until your boy is really hurting people in the playoffs i don’t notice and by then they’re already stars lol.

maybe Luka? by the time i was watching him everyone knew he was really good but i thought he was the best in the league. now he’s consensus top 5 which is nice to see. i still think he’s the best in the league though

He didn't have an eye popping stat line or anything but I knew Kawhi was going to be a star after his game 7 performance vs the Heat in 2013, I was extremely impressed with the bounce back he had after missing big free throws at the end of the infamous game 6, played like a grown man at such a young age in such a big game, a sign of things to come for sure.
