The official bench Winn & Feliz Thread

I hope he gets a few consecutive starts, we need some life in our offense.

What do you think?

I think we need to be somewhat careful. It has only been 6 games and listening to the radio and what not, people are calling for trades and Linccecum to be called up and Andrew Jones and all sorts of wierd stuff. 6 out of 162 games.

With that being said, I wait until after this roadtrip. If things keep going as they are, then my first move is to switch Winn with Linden. Can't be any worse. I would also switch Aurila with Feliz and put Niekro at first. Again, Niekro cannot be any worse than Feliz.

Those are all small changes that can be made. If this team continues to play like this by the allstar game, then major changes can be talked about but lets give it a bit of time first.

Worst thing we can do is rush things. Bringing up Lincecom would be just that. I like your Winn for Linden idea. Great place to start but lets give them a roadtrip first.

My two cents.

I'm not calling for anyones head. And I'm mostly basing this idea with Winn's '06 stats too...he just hasn't been very effective for us after that fluke half a season after we traded for him.

I do know we need relief help -- badly.

I wouldn't be opposed to trading Morris for relief help and prospects and bringing up Timmy L.

But our problem lies within our inability to score runs and our bullpens high era.

We had a similar start in 2000, which Kuiper & Krukow mentioned. The only difference this season is that I new our team would struggle to score runs and hold leads...and only a homerism optimism & a usually weak NL West led me to believe we that we can contend.

I agree with you on Winn. He had a great short-season the year of the trade and has done nothing since. Winn and Feliz are the two Giants I dislike the most and would love to see them gone.

Problem is, in April, I do not believe a trade can happen. Even if the Giants wanted to trade those two, most GM's are still feeling out their rosters and are not willing to make a move. Around the all-star break possibly, trade deadline for sure. We may be stuck with those two until then. Also, can you resonable expect to get anything back for those two? I guess one could say getting rid of them is the prize in itself.

This roadtrip will tell a lot about this season. If they can play .500 ball during this trip, I think they will be ok. If not, some minor tweeks can and should be made, Linden I am guessing will be first. He has looked really good so far overall.

Question: If you did replace Winn with Linden, where would you bat him?

I think I would move Aurila up to 2nd in front of Bonds because Aurila is a good fastball hitter and whomever bats in front of Bonds will see a lot of fastballs as good as Bonds looks so far. Put Linden 6th behind Durham because he can hit for average and knock in RBI's. Finally, move Vizquel to 8th to protect the pitcher.

We need to put Aurillia at 3rd and Klesko at 1st. At least Klesko hits the ball hard everytime and if he gets out, its usually a solid at-bat. Id bat him 5th.

And aurrilia has sucked jsut as bad as Feliz batting, at least hes less of a liability fielding though.

I'm all for putting Aurilia at 3rd, and starting Klesko at 1st. I'm so tired of Feliz's meaningless stats; I swear he only gets a homerun/hit when it doesn't matter...when we are down or up 8 runs.

My ideal lineup would be:

Roberts
Vizquel
Bonds
Durham
Aurilia
Klesko
Linden
Molina

I like having speed in the 1/2 spot's, which is why I'd keep vizuel in the 2 slot. However, I wouldn't be opposed to batting Richy there.

I like that lineup. If you want to keep Vizquel at the #2 spot in the order then I would want Bonds to bat 4th. Historically, Aurilia has batted for much better average and power when he is batting before a big bat. Hitting in front on Bonds will get Aurilia a lot fastball strikes that he can drive.

Id then go...

Roberts
Visquel
Aurilia
Bonds
Durham
Klesko
Linden
Molina

Jesus Christ, I'm sick and tired of watching Feliz and Winn not able to knock in a run from second. Why the F*ck are they starting?

^^ they do nothing when it matters, the only way they get a hit is with 2 outs and nobody on or when the game is out of hand and it

Yep. That was the straw that broke the camels back for me. What a waste of great pitching. Sit Winn and Feliz down and let them work their way back to the lineup. Linden, Klesko or Neikro deserve a shot.

For one game at least. Lets see if it continues. Klesko just seems more aggressive. Anyone else notice that?

Now Linden for Winn and I am content....for now.

Other than Winn playing a fairly good RF, what is there to like about him?

He can't hit. He takes too many strikes. He has good speed but it doesn't matter if you cannot actually get on base. He should be a 24th or 25th player, not a starter.

I like Winn as a late inning, pitch-hitter/runner & defensive replacement, and that's about it.

Feliz should only start if a Left-hander is slated to pitch against us, other than that he should ride the pine.
