Re: The Official 2023 Draft Thread
Scoot Henderson, Carson Wallace. That's it. Need guard talent in the worst way possible.
Homer pick - Reece Beekman as a 2nd rounder, if he comes out.

Re: The Official 2023 Draft Thread
It's not a 2 man draft; it's a 1 man draft. Scoot's good, but he's not in Wenbayama's league.
Actually, there is one way under the radar player I think will sneak into the lottery - Taylor Hendricks, a 6'9 210 lb freshman for UCF. I haven't been able to find his age, but assuming he's 18 or 19, he's a great talent. Super bouncy, he has the frame to be a muscle guy, but he also shoots 50% from 3. He's doing well, but I think he's got the talent to be much better. He reminds me of a young Bob McAdoo.

Re: The Official 2023 Draft Thread
G.G. Jackson is the first lottery prospect I've red flagged. 28 TOs & 7 ASTs in 371 minutes shows poor awareness & feel. The bad defense confirms this He's clear a project.
On the other hand Brandon Miller can really shoot it with solid handle at 6-9 but can he finish around the rim?
Stll on the Gradey Dick train. Best pure shooter in the draft. I liken him as the SF version of Tyler Herro. Defense will be an issue.

Re: The Official 2023 Draft Thread
I'd be happy with Amen Thompson. Uber athletic 6-7 guard. Shot appears to be improving. I liken him to Penny or Dejounte with another gear. Definite all-star potential.

Re: The Official 2023 Draft Thread
My top 5 so far
1. C Victor Wembamyama
2. PG Scoot Henderson
3. PG Amen Thompson
4. SF Brandon Miller
5. SG Ausar Thompson
Unsure/guys i have early doubts about:
PG Nick Smith ... poor efficiency, poor defender
PF Cam Whitmore ... poor defender so far.
PG Cason Wallace ... I have reservations about drafting a low usage PG high in the draft.
SF Dariq Whitehead ... not ready at all
Guys the pique my curiosity:
PF Jarace Walker ... he actually reminds me of a more skilled Chris Wilcox (former Terp).
SF Anthony Black
SG Gradey Dick

Re: The Official 2023 Draft Thread
Looks like an interesting draft with at least 5-6 very good prospects. This is why any competent organization would make sure we TANK hard and finish bottom 5…but our clownish owner “refuses to tank”…

UAB has the most athletic backcourt in America. Possibly including the NBA. Jordan Walker & Eric Gaines are absolute freaks! Both are electric af!

Brice Sensabaugh is a clear lottery pick. A 3-level scorer, he's a complete offensive package. Built like a tank and a mid-range maestro!

Re: The Official 2023 Draft Thread
Anthony Black is big wing with playmaking skill. A connector similar to Gordon Hayward or Joe Ingles in his prime. Gets to the rim and can finish. There's alot to like on both sides of the ball. Shooting 36% from 3 at the moment.

Re: The Official 2023 Draft Thread
Yeah either Thompson brother is our guy. Those are the two best players in this draft IMO.
If only we could trade Beal for another pick and figure out how to get both of them.

Re: The Official 2023 Draft Thread
Top 5 and I'd be happy. I think I like Brandon Miller above the Thompson twins. I really don't know about the level of play at Overtime Elite, and I can't decide which twin has the edge over the other. Amen is quick with the ball, but on defense Ausar has that it-factor about his game, anticipating the play and getting there first, playing large, strong, good footwork. I lean Ausar I think. But its hard to say given the level of who he is defending.
Miller though, so smooth, works screens like a veteran. Range out to Tennessee, so deep. Handle is sweet for a 6'9-6'10" guy. If I'm adding a(nother) 2-3 swingman, I want one who can shoot from outside.
Still haven't looked for a sleeper yet.

Re: The Official 2023 Draft Thread
Jaylen Clark from UCLA is the guy with that 2nd round pick. Reminds me of Christian Braun. Low usage, fills the stat sheet, doesn’t turn it over, efficient, plays great defense, only 21 years old on draft night. Quality starting 2 guard in the NBA.
Still all in on Brandon Miller with our 1st. We need to move Kuzma and shutdown Beal/Porzingis, and tank into that top 5. Plain and simple.
Goodwin Wright
Beal Kispert Clark
Bernard Jackson
Miller Avdija
Porzingis Gafford

Re: The Official 2023 Draft Thread
At our typical 8-12 slot, I love Brice Sensabaugh. He’s a future all star and first option scorer. Jarace Walker and Cason Wallace will also be quality NBA players.
Have to find a way to get Jaylen Clark with either our early 2nd or acquiring another mid to late 1st in a Kuzma deal. He’s going to be a quality NBA player as well.
16&37 for Kuzma and Morris would be amazing. Then package 37+39 to move up a few spots and make sure you get Jaylen Clark.
Shut down Beal and Porzingis to make sure you keep that pick in the 8-12 range. Draft Sensabaugh&Jarace Walker.
Sensabaugh and Clark. Those are the guys.

Thank you for doing this. I always look forward to your ranking every year.
In the 3rd tier you rank Carson Wallace above and below Jarace Walker.
I’m guessing they were so close you had difficulty deciding which was better.
But I am curious which of the tier 3 prospects you feel would best help the Wizards
if they were to trade Barton & Nunn, cut Todd and sign Goodwin.
