Heathy Rotation with Maxey
Now we have a couple months of data to see where the Sixers stand, and how the players fit together. We're just missing the scoring machine, Tyrese Maxey. How does he fit in the 76ers lineup going forward?
PG - Harden (36) Maxey (12)
SG - Melton (24) Maxey (20) Shake (4)
SF - Harris (34) House (14)
PF - Tucker (28) Niang (20)
C - Embiid (34) Harrell/Reed (14)
We've won 8 in a row with this starting lineup, and I think our team is synergizing really well together. Maxey is a great shooter and scorer, but we don't really need 4 20+ PPG scorers on the court at the same time imo. Keeping 3 of Harden, Harris, Maxey, and Embiid in the same lineup is more than enough imo. Guys like Melton, House, and Tucker are 100% 3 and D which balances out well with some our primary options who aren't the greatest on the defensive end. Tyrese can run circles around opposing subs which should increase his USG% and efficiency anyway.
How would you organize the rotation going forward after Maxey is back?

Ideally I'd like to see Harden playing a few less MPGs to save his energy for the postseason and see what a backcourt combo of Maxey/Melton and Maxey/Milton can do. Both Melton and Milton can back-up Harden at the PG spot.
I'd say reduce Harden to around 32 mpg and increase Milton to 8-10 mpg.

I don’t like guys losing their spots due to injury. That kind of stuff matters to these guys whether we like it or not.
As others have said, I’d like to see Hardens minutes reduced and staggered w Maxey more. Shake needs to play more and PJs minutes should be cut.

Yup, sets a bad precedent.

One thing for certain is Harden wouldn't be playing 36 minutes in the regular season, even though that would be a low number for Glenn. I'd reverse the Maxey and Harden minutes, and I wouldn't have Maxey on ball if I could help it.

Don’t care how tall they are, there’s no logical reason to have Tucker and House playing a combined 42 mins. Cut that to about 30 and just play a lot of 3 guard rotations with Shake getting closer to 15 mins a night.

Not realistic, I can't see Maxey coming off the bench. We already have a **** relationship with Klutch. This will just sow the seeds for discontent.ProcessDoctor wrote:Harden(32)/Maxey(16)

Re: Heathy Rotation with Maxey
I think Maxey has to start but will need to prove he deserves a spot in closing lineups come playoff time. The kid has risen to every challenge thrown his way so we need to give him a chance to prove he can be a more impactful defender. Play more 3 guard line ups next to Embiid & Tobi and minimize PJ’s minutes until the playoffs and there will be enough minutes to go around.

Re: Heathy Rotation with Maxey
Maxey will not be coming off the bench. Minutes restriction, yes. Personally, I think there should be a minutes restriction for Harden as well. Let M&M get their time in. We have the luxury of going 4 deep with our guards. That shouldn't be something to worry about. Unfortunately my homeboy Shake is going to be the odd man out once the postseason hits, but I think Doc will find a spot for him. We need shooters, he can knock down threes and he defends well enough now that he's not a liability out there. We can play three guard lineups for stretches. Looking forward to Maxey getting back into the mix.

If he is good enough he will earn the spot in the starting lineup, easy.

Start Maxey but make sure the offense is at it’s best that no team can match it.
But ending the game with Maxey is not fixed. It changes based on what the situation is.

I guess I should’ve labeled it my hopeful rotation and not my prediction. I’m just sad our defense is about to tank once he starts playing heavy minutes again. I’ve really enjoyed watching this currently balanced group. Really hoping Glenn can sell him on the “Tyler Herro role.”
Edit: The point is, Glenn is too stupid to realize starters don't have to play 35 mpg.

Id like to see Maxey off the bench as a microwave scorer destroying other teams 2nd units.
Also now that hes back we need to reduce Hardens minutes inmediately, hes playing 40 min games in December, its a very very stupid move.

I understand, but Melton was not here and he surpassed Maxey already, now it's Maxey's turn to prove he is an improved player and worthy of starting over Melton.

Yes Melton is playing amazong and needs to start. That doesnt mean Maxey doesnt. Maxey needs to start in the regular season. 37 year old PJ Tucker doesn't. If we're in a playoff series where it's clear that Maxey off the bench makes more sense matchup wise then ya bring Maxey off the bench for that specific series. U have to be an incompetent fool to think PJ should start over Tyrese Fookin Maxey in the regular season.
Maxey. Milton
Melton. Thybulle
Harden. Tucker
Harris. Niang
Embiid. Reed (fk Harrell lol)

These 3 guard lineups are killing me. We are already TRASH at rebounding with two forwards who are good at rebounding in the lineup. What do you think's going to happen if we take one of those forwards out of the lineup?

PJ is averaging 4.4 rebounds per game, Maxey was averaging 3.5 before his injury, Melton is averaging 4.7.
In reality, if your issue is rebounding, sending PJ to the bench has no effect. I would worry about our defense
