I may be very buzzed right now but I'm feeling good about this. My bold prediction, Yanks sweep the rest of the way. Arod is going to come through. I predict 12 home runs from now until game 4 of the world series. Roger Clemens, tomorrow, with 7 innings of 1 hit baseball. Followed up by a complete game shutout by Wang in game 4. Pettitte comes back game 5, throws 8 shutout innings and hands it Mo to close it out. Let's go Yanks. Let's go get number 27 in 2007. -Jitpal

You may think what does someone from New Zealand know about Baseball, well i think i have a good knowledge of baseball, and i know about pressure, New Zealands Rugby team wins about 85% of there games, but they are expected to never lose, never, when we do lose the nation finds reasons to put the team down, New Zealand just got knocked out the World Cup of Rugby in the Quarter finals, and despite only losing 4 games out of there last two years, it is likly that the coach will be fired, the team has pressure, and the team failed, but the pressure is built on by the media and by the fans, and this is what is happening with A Rod!

great players rise in these occasions, its what sets them apart from the other 8 in the lineup
Krod had his chance, top 9th, with a RISP in a tied game, and what does he do? he chokes....its those situations where your big gun is supposed to come thru...Krod is our biggest gun, and he has yet to come thru in the last 3 years now
what about jeter? he's batting .125 in this series. doesn't seem very jeterish to me. why aren't people getting on him?

again, people have seen what jeter can do. The guy has 4 rings and the 2000 WS MVP vs the mets. As I said, you can't come through every time, but you have to do it enough. A-rod has yet done that, and until then, he is going to get kille by yankee fans...

If we force a game 5 I gotta like our chances. We were making CC work last game we just couldn't translate it into base hits. I just hope we can give both Wang & Pettitte some run support because the game 2 1-0 lead had me worried from the start. 1 run leads are not good, we need to create insurance runs.

anything can happen in sample sizes that are small enough (like AB's in a playoff series!) it's too bad that 99% of the fans of a sport that is pretty much dominated by statistics don't know the first thing about statistics. oh well, get rid of him and have fun not making the playoffs next year.

What were Arod's #'s with runners on in the postseason as opposed to the bases being empty.
We don't care what ARod does around here, let him leave. We have winners in Pettitte, Rivera, and Posada that I'm more concerned about having here. If Torre is gone, those three might be right behind him.

what were the team's numbers w/ runners on base? what about True Yankee(tm) jeter, who hit into 3 double plays in 17 AB? ANYTHING can happen in a sample size that small. if you don't believe me on the clutch thing, read this.
a-rod has outperformed jeter in 3 of 5 postseason series now, but you all will continue to worship jeter for whatever reason. get rid of a-rod and you all will be lucky to make the playoffs next year.

Who's the better postseason player (career postseason avg/obp/slg):
Player A: .279/.361/.483
Player B: .309/.377/.469
Too close to call, everything is within the margin of error.
So who are Player A and Player B? Hint: Player A homered last night, albeit only a solo shot. He did so as the second batter in the inning, because in the inning before that, Player B ended the inning by grounding into a double play with runners on the corners to end a potential rally.
I also point out that the above numbers are very consistent with Player B's regular season numbers but are vastly inferior to Player A's regular season numbers. Would you call Player A a "choker", and Player B a hero, just because Player A declines to Player B's regular level in the postseason?
