I still think Ben will be a massive problem in the playoffs and I don’t trust Kyrie to stay healthy all season.

It seems strange to say this given the Eastern Conference's overall top to bottom strength, but this team is the best I've felt about the Sixers coming out of it. The Bucks are a paper tiger unless Middleton comes back healthy and can carry their halfcourt offense (which I doubt), the Heat aren't good, we have the answers for the Cavs. I don't buy the Nets and we match up well against them. That leaves the Celtics who, while formidable, I believe are outshooting their true talent and I'm sketchy on their cobbled together PG trio of White, Brogdon, and Smart when the team shooting percentages drop.

Spurs is pumping assists numbers. Look at Zach Collins. These guys are not really creating on offense but their system and pace is leading them to get their assists. You can get fooled and think these guys are good on offense. They did the same thing with Dejounte and Hawks is realizing he is not that good.

Are there any examples of players being a double digit assist guy for the Spurs and then going to another team and reverting to a single digit assist guy?

Somewhat close. Dejounte
9.2apg last season to 6.2apg with Hawks

Related. Brett’s pump and dump scheme. MCW.
7apg with sixers to 5apg with Bucks.

Jaden Ivey is also a good candidate for this scheme.

Let the winning do the talking.

Thats why its best if we go after championship instead. Look at how the MJ vs Bron discussion goes.

Bucks.

They know what they’re doing. They can play on all kinds of sizes. They can match-up with anyone. Portis at the 3? Jevon Carter and Jrue at the backcourt? Giannis and Portis frontcourt?

Embiid is better than Giannis but every year people doubt Giannis but Giannis has been more reliable in the playoffs than Embiid in terms of scoring production, availability and performance consistency.

At game 6 of the finals.
This herculean effort..

Wait that was the finals 2 years ago. The Bucks team is going through changes. And they are not positive ones. Middleton being out has hurt a great deal. And other teams in the east are getting better. As good as Giannis is he can't do it all by himself. But with that being said I like the fact that the 76ers are barely a blip on anyone's radar. The talking heads go on and on about the Net's winning streak, how can the Bucks can right their ship, how good the Celtics are still even with a new coach, how the young up and coming Cavs can make some waves in the east. And yet the 76ers are only getting better with each passing game. And no one really seems to notice. I love it.

My guy Orlando Robinson cooking Rudy Gobert yesterday added a nice level of Christmas cheer to me.

It bears repeating that the Gobert trade was just a colossally bad decision by Minnesota.

Cam Reddish must be doing something quite bad if he’s not sniffing the court for a minute when RJ only plays 2 minutes in a game.

McBride played 46 minutes tho…

It's incredible, really. They took about as promising and high leverage a situation as you could envision and in one fell swoop destroyed it completely and has them back in 8-10 seed purgatory. That's the kind of move that should make heads roll.

Even though they're a "playoff team" at the moment, the Knicks are still a dumpster fire and seem to just be winging it.

I was a big Giannis hater from 19-21. I thought ESPN was anointing him too early and never cared for his play style. He's proven me wrong in every facet and he's undeniable. I think you hit the nail on the head when it comes to reliability. I really hope Embiid elevates to Giannis' playoff level, because he certainly did show some progress in 2022 against Toronto hitting the game winner for example.

The 76ers 2nd round pick from a few years ago Petrusev is dominating the last month of Euroleague he's set career highs in back to back games and is protecting the rim while shooting 40% from 3 in limited attempts.

Yeah, I've resigned to the likelihood that Cam is probably just a doofus. He's shown no development in his 4 years. Just a bust, unfortunately.

Encouraging. Still probably a long shot to get a roster spot, but could be a solid 2-way signing next year.

He’s going to want a roster spot and a multi year deal to come over I imagine.

Yeah no way he comes for a 2 way contract, if he keeps up this level of play I think another team would probably try get his draft rights from Philly.

First of all, hapy new year dear y'all!

I've finally decided to come out of my "Philla fan closet"

I've watched a lot of Crvena Zvezda's games this year. They were bad and changed the coach a few week ago. The new coach is Duško Ivanović, who is one of the best coaches in europe, and since then Petrušev has stated to play some of his best basketball.
He isn't the best athlete there is, but he has quick enough feet, but the one thing that bothers me is that his moves seem somehow robotic/stiff sometimes. My concern with him is, that he is somewaht a PF/center tweener, and not in a good way. But he has make some huge improvement in that area in the past few years.

My major concern, for now, is his defense. I think he would really struggle on defense in his first year or two. Zvezda has been good defensively since Ivanovic became coach, and Petrusev has been good/great in that span, but the game is different in the NBA. He just isn't quick/agile enough to be a full time PF(let's se he isn't a wing/forward),and he also isn't the defensive force around the rim, but he has some nice instincts/feel for the game. He isn't ready NOW, but I can easly see him beeing a solid defensive player in the league in a few years.

As for his ofensive game, he is more of an old school near the rim player. But he is also good attacking with his face to the basket. He is a good shooter, but not a 40% 3PT shooter. The most important thing is that you can't leave him open.

All in all, he definetly has the talent to be in the league, it's not hard for me to imagine him having a nice Nba career and beeing a solid/rotational player, a nice backup center.
