But with that said, his game is so weird and hard to comprehend, its like a combo of Steve Nash and some elite big haha. 5 guys for the Nuggets took at least 12 shots, no one took more than 14 (just like those old Suns teams). But instead of averaging 18-19 points (like Nash), Jokic is out here averaging 25-27 points. And instead of dribbling the ball the entire possession, the ball never sticks in his hands. I bring up Nash because I dont recall watching someone orchestrate an offense to this level since Nash and those Suns. And again unlike guys like Luka and Harden who were the main guys for high power offenses. They did it while also putting up 20+ shots a game. Jokic is 3rd on his own team in FGAs per 100.
The guy is legit flirting with a 25ppg, 70 TS%, triple double. You cant do that and have your team in the #1 seed and not win the MVP.
He's not trying to get the MVP. His USG% is down from last season (31 to 28), as are his FGAs (17 to 15). That has a lot to do with having more help this season, but it's also just the nature of how he plays. He's always going to be in the MVP conversation.
I was reading a tweet about how Will Barton was the starting SF for the Nuggets last season and now he's getting DNP'd on the Wizards. Monte Morris is barely avg. 10 points on the Wizards, he was the starting PG for the Nuggets last season. They still won 48 games last season.
Anyways,
My top 3 for MVP so far into the season:
1. Luka
2. Tatum
3. Jokic
Durant, Giannis, Embiid are lurking.
