Maybe terrible?
Covington and a future distsnt 2nd for Goga
I don’t think Ballmer cares about the money, but you could say this deal saves them a fortune if you wanted. I wouldn’t though.
Clippers trade a big forward out of their rotation for a young-ish big man that would have a role and comes with Bird rights to spend even more this summer.
Indiana trades a young big man out of their rotation for a defensive forward they could really use. He is having a really rough season, but he is still Rocco and has a long enough track record imo. Goga was considered Turner insurance I think, but I think Smith has taken that title
Added things; Indiana keeps enough to max Turner. LAC create a 12.3 million dollar TPE by splitting their current TPE so Ballmer can show off some more before the deadline if he wants. The jump from 9.7 to 12.3 helps a lot with matching some MLE guys that are, or should be, available.

Re: Covington+2nd for Goga?
I've been a big proponent of a Coffey/Goga swap, as I feel Coffey would fit in perfectly with the Pacers, but would prefer this if Lue is truly going to continue to avoid giving RoCo any consistent burn.
I'd def gamble on one of Moses/Goga/Moussa to develop and be a legit backup to Zu.
Don't believe Indiana does this, however.

Re: Covington+2nd for Goga?
if RoCo wasn't gtd for next year I really like this. But as the Pacers I'd rather not put that salary on my books for next year. But could you solve this by sending him to Phoenix for Crowder, Suns get the 2nd? Suns can't really afford his money next year either I know but they might take the player they need for this year and then use the 2nd and one of their own and some cash and dump him next year?

I remember a couple or 3 years ago someone on this forum saying that RoCo was worth 4-5 #1 picks, and was not really mocked for saying it.
The 2nd year of his contract is an issue like Chuck said, I don't know if a 2nd is enough, when is the 2nd from Portland's the Clippers.
Edit: to correct team.

Unless you can produce that statement(and that there was no pushback) I'm calling it totally false. He did get traded for 2 firsts IRL though. But no, nobody here seriously said he was worth 4 or 5 1sts unless they were already existing known picks in the late 20's and if they did, they definitely got push back.
We don't need to invent wild stories with no relevance now lol.

Come on man you know there is not way to do a search for such a post. It was about 2018-2019 and the guys take was that RoCo was so great defensively that he was worth a huge haul, seemed to me that no one really called him on the idea that RoCo was worth a bunch of picks. That was 4 years ago so things change.

Yeah, I don't remember people saying RoCo is worth that much, I don't recall folks saying they wouldn't want to trade him due to his defensive prowess and low salary (when he was with Philly on his first deal).
But oh boy, do I wish he was worth those picks.
