That is the real question here. Right now I think he is probably at best a neutral defender against 4s and a minus everywhere else. Doesn't have the quickness to stay with most guards or wings, and doesn't have the length or verticality to do much against 5s in the post.

Interesting prospect to say the least. Feels like at the very least a rotation player, 1st round prospect. If he can be neutral like you said, maybe more.

I hoped to be able to ignore him for a little while longer to figure out what to make of him but it's getting harder and harder to ignore what he does. I still have no idea how to project him, though. Could be awesome, could be nothing – or anything in between.

Could Sensabaugh be a poor man's budget version of Charles Barkley perhaps?? Just not sure how successful he'll be against NBA level athletes/ talent. Also been very difficult to find a good comparison for him too!

Re: Brice Sensabaugh
My top 5 for now.
1 Wembayama (once in a lifetime prospect)
2 Scoot (offensive predator)
3 Brandon Miller (cheaper Jabari Smith Jr)
4 Brice Sensabaugh (3 level scorer w/ decent 2 man game)
5 Keyonte George (3 level scorer w/ decent 2 man game)
Sensabaugh might end up 3rd overall, based on how it’s going right now

Re: Brice Sensabaugh
I think it's pretty easy to say that Sensabaugh is going to be a more effective offensive player than RJ Barrett. The defense obviously isn't there, but it would be nice if he could play as a big 2. If he could lose 10 lbs or so, it would help him on both ends.

Yes, and he's also had many more games with 1 or 0 assists. His second best assist game after 7 is 3.EvanZ wrote:FWIW to the guy who said he's allergic to passing, the game I watched against Maine he had 7 ast and only 1 tov.
He's probably the best pure shooter/scorer in the draft, but I'm just saying he needs to trust his teammates more as well. If you come into the NBA putting up a bunch of tunnel vision shots you'll get humbled really quick.

Doesn't really make sense why you'd value Sensabaugh over Jett if you're looking for NBA-level creators. I think Jett has much higher ceiling on that end. Also a much better passer.

Sensa
29ppg per 40. 63TS% 51 FG% 47 3pt% with 82FT%
Jett
18ppg per 40 57 TS% and 42 FG%
Is pretty much elite on all type of scoring..
Off ball
Iso
Post
2 man game
He’s shown to be a good passer but for now his calling card is his scoring and he needs to prove he’s the best scorer to rank up in the lottery

Sensabaugh can't really get to the rim though. He lives on really tough mid-range shots. Just don't see it translating at a high level. He doesn't have any burst with the ball. Jett's scoring is much more likely to translate. Way better handle.

Wings..some bigs...maybe even some guards.
He should study the way Grant Williams and PJ Tucker play defense and he'll be fine.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

Re: Brice Sensabaugh
He's having one of the most ridiculous scoring seasons for an underclass guard/wing in a while, particularly the last 10 games where he hasn't scored less than 18 points.
During that stretch he's averaged
20.6 ppg 7.7 reb in 28 mins with a 12 BPM while shooting 66% at the rim, 56% from 2 overall, 46% 3pt and 81%ft.
Last I checked he's in the 98th percentile on catch and shoot jumpers and 91st percentile on pull up jumpers OTD for the season.
This current level of shooting versatility & shooting ability + usage+efficiency is pretty rare, we'll see if he keeps it up.
Just to visualise some of the company he's in as a shooter/scorer thus far

I think the underrated thing about him is his movement and relocation skills off the ball, I think you can play him on or off ball at the next level.
It's strange, physically he's more similar to an Eric Gordon or James Harden type build, big and strong type, but they both were much more physical with their bodies as evidenced by how often they were able to get to the line in the ncaa.
In terms of just purely shooting/scoring profile he probably is closest to freshman Devin Booker, both came off the bench and had similar roles for their teams.
Now, defensively there are major issues, firstly in that he seems to not really care all that much about it and secondly he might struggle positionally on who to guard. He might be better off using his strength and guarding 4's.
He's a top 10 guy for me though currently, I would have no problem taking a freshman with size who shows this level of shotmaking + shooting ability and figure out the rest later

Imagine how good he can be once he can get to the rim with a more spaced NBA defense.
Im also high on Jett (i have him top 11 in my mock https://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?p=103625950#p103625950but Sensa is just undeniably way better as a scorer.

Re: Brice Sensabaugh
Defensively, I see him as an average defender who’s gonna sell to teams that he can switch to 2-4 positions kind of Eric Gordon or Luka type defender.
Offensively, his scoring reminds me a lot of Joe Johnson. “My friend who thinks he is an NBA executive of a western conference team” says his scoring alone reminds him of Luka. Its just a matter of time before he can be a good passer.
Passing is more about situation and willingness. For instance, after being criticized of not passing the ball, Cam Thomas jumped into a 13 ast% player this season for the Nets.

As always, in this era, it will be determined by his length and athleticism. But his game? First-rate. This kid is already a professional scorer. He knows how to create his own shot. And he’s a great shooter not a good one. He reminds me of Paul Pierce. I think he’s going to be a great pro.

He’s DeMar Derozan with a 3 Ball.
He will be an absolute bucket in the league.

Sensabaugh is starting to look like he could be the next Joe Johnson, imo.
