Episode 1 down on Carnival Row last night. Really hoping it turns into something has a lot of potential.

Edit: this show should be called political trash row. Nothing to see here.

Season 2 of Slow Horses is great. I went nuts last night and watched the whole thing. Season 1 was good too but I liked this one even more. It's a witty spy thriller on AppleTV+ starring Gary Oldman.

One of my favorite shows this year though I'm only about to watch the 2nd season now. Have you tried Bad Sisters (another black ensemble comedy on AppleTV)? Fun, charming, witty little show with great acting across the board.

No but I came across it recently and put it on my list. Thanks for the recommendation, will watch soon.

This is my first time posting in this sub. You are allowed to post/talk about any media? Movies/Shows/Mustic. Like, am I allowed to be a nerd here without judgement? O_O

Started The Chi on Disney+. It's not quite The Wire or Boyz in the Hood but I'm in. Engaged so far.

I'm starting Wednesday. It looks interesting. Also, breaking bad is apparently the best show ever made. I've never seen it. Starting that soon too.

The Head on HBOMAX: It's a series from Spain but the cast is international and most of it is in English. Scary-ish suspense thriller about researchers in Antartica, and people start getting murdered and they have to figure out which one of them is the killer. Then in season 2 they basically do the whole thing again but on a boat lol. I'm not giving it strong recommendation because it was kinda all over the place and you have to suspend your disbelieve throughout. But it was entertaining and you could do worse if you need a show to watch. Corny in parts but memorable. Sort of a guilty pleasure type thing.

Treason on Netflix: Not very good imo. The lead character is #2 in charge at MI6 (the British spy agency), but he was totally unconvincing and not a very good spy at all lol. Charlie Cox from Daredevil played the part, and while I didn't think he was great for the role, the problem was really how the character was written. And the show just could have been better than it was all around. It was only 5 episodes though and I thought it got a little better as it went and the season wrapped up pretty nicely at the end. And Olga Kurylenko was very good in it, playing the same part she plays in everything haha.

Breaking Bad is great and the "prequel" Better Call Saul is amazing too. I really think Saul became even better than Breaking Bad by the end. Enjoy.

Just finished something called Alice in Borderland. Imagine Lost and Saw had a baby that was Japanese. A little Squid Game thrown in for good measure. It was pretty good.

Going through Echo 3 on Apple+. It's pretty good as well.

I’m halfway through season 1 of Alice in Borderland. My fiancé, wouldn’t watch it at first because she loved Squid Games and whenever she loves a show refuses to watch something others say compares to it out of some weird loyalty to her favorite shows. Then I pointed out Alice came out first… so far, so good and while I see similarities it’s different enough too!

Yo this show Paper Girls on Amazon is amazing and fun as hell. Not sure how I missed it when it came out earlier last year. Reminiscent of Stranger Things but totally different plot and with girls instead of boys. Would be fine for teens but it's really a pretty adult show, there's some violence and tons of cussing. But wow I got into it last night and really love it.

Sad to report that it already got cancelled so we’re all left hanging in the end. Enjoyed it too. Nothing mindblowing or anything. Fun show to pass the time.

Finally saw Banshees of Inisherin with Brendan Gleeson, Colin Farrell, Kerry Condon. What a unique simple story about friendship, trauma, and depression. Big life themes depicted in a fictional Irish island town, post-war.

Party pooper!

I really like it a lot. I'm assuming it got canceled for poor ratings but I have think it was more marketing thing than the quality of the show. I am really up to date on new shows but never even heard of it. And then it looks like a kids show but it's really not. So I'm thinking no one really thought they were the target audience and decided to skip it (if they even knew about it at all). Maybe another network will pick it up and give it another shot?

I respect the loyalty while glad she came around. Does this translate to movies as well? Armageddon or Deep Impact?

An episode or 2 past the midway point and it’s definitely a show unto itself with the addition of the Beach so she’s glad she came around too. Hard to say on movies though… the list of movies I thought everyone had seen at least once and she’s never seen and often never heard of is embarrassingly long. Product of a sheltered childhood in a small farm county, and being a horror movie buff. She’s more likely to have seen an 80’s slasher film than either Armageddon or Deep Impact. She just watched Planes, Trains, and Automobiles for the first time right before Christmas for example.
