I think that being a defensive liability and shooting sub 30% on 3s likely holds down Nowell's free agent market. Right now, I'd bet on the non-taxpayer MLE ($11.4M first year) being the ceiling on his next contract.

I'm guessing the open shots are almost all open 3s. He's struggling from distance this year. He still hits a lot of tough 2s. I actually think it's a blessing that Jaylen is struggling in a contract year. I still believe in his talent and would love him back next year on a cheap contract. His agents are probably pissed they passed on an 7-8 million dollars a year deal.

Yep. I have been a big supporter of Nowell since the draft. This was his year to shine and he's done nothing but play himself off the team. You have to move to the next level and for whatever reason he hasn't.

I've finally thrown in the towel. It's time to move on.

It's like he's been playing for a contract and the pressure has got to him. He forces everything and plays no defense. What a shame.

I can't see someone paying him that much.

He has no "plus" skills. Especially now that his 3 point shooting last season looks like a clear outlier:

20: 33% on 150 Attempts.
21: 39% on 160 Attempts.
22: 29% on 186 Attempts.

If we can even recoup a 2nd round pick for him, we should pounce on it.

Well, he is shooting 28.5% from 3, which equates to an eFG of 42.75%. He must be shooting contested 3pters better than uncontested ones...

Nowell had been bad... The only thing I like about his game is how willing he is running in fastbreak and finishing in transition. I don't have any stats but I have feeling that he is a pretty efficient transition scorer.

He has been poor this season and has limitations but I wouldn't mind re-signing him for a reasonable contract. Nowell's value is quite low at the moment...I wouldn't mind re-signing him for something like 3 years $10-12M kind of contract if possible.

Is leaning to leave? Well... He definitely has shot himself in leg this year. I have feeling that he has no legs when he shoots. The release is there, but footwork looks inconsistent.
