No need to compare the two. Johnny Davis is one of the worst draft picks I've ever seen in my life. He makes Jan Vesely look like Michael Jordan combined with AI combined with Tracy Mcgrady combined with Larry Bird.

Johnny Davis has 11 career points? That’s 11 more points than I thought he had.

He may go down as one of the worst draft picks in Wizards history. Stewie Percherov showed more at this point in his career than this bum.

Get Sheppard TF outta here man.

Yeah i had no idea he scored that many as well lol.

Truly looks like the worst pick of the 1st round. If we include summer league and preseason, he looks like he could never get significant NBA minutes.

If he gets a guaranteed 3rd year salary, it will be because Shep is still here and feeling generous.

We can see this from the fact that the average pick position of the 9 OKC players having their way with us tonight is #36. Of course that is based on arbitrarily calling undrafted guys the #61 pick. Highest you can give them.

Shai Gilgeous Alexander - #11 overall pick by LAC
Giddy - #6 overall pick
Jalen Williams - #12 overall pick (better than Johnny Davis...)
Lu Dort - Undrafted Free Agent
Kenrich Williams - Undrafted Free Agent

Sam Presti and the OKC front office know what they're doing in talent accumulation.

Tommy Sheppard always says he is supposed to accumulate talent. Yet he can't pick players who have skills just choir boys the marketing department can put up to make some $$$.

I say this without any irony. I would trade Beal straight up for OKC’s GM. Imagine having a team of young improving better-than-their-draft-slot players around a budding superstar.

He worse than Jerome Robinson. At least Jerome could shoot. The Clippers gave up on him after 1.5 years. Minnesota gave up on Culver after 2 years. I expect Davis to be trade filler by next year.

And it’s not just the points ... Jalen Williams exudes BBIQ , does all the little things, superb passes, boxes out and rebounds, hustles, defends, is like a coach on the floor.

It’s like when we played Bones Hyland. Do our scouts even attend the combine & pre draft workouts? It was obvious the skill level of these players was on full display.

And man Giddy looks really good too. The drafting of Davis is so disappointing. And I thought the main reasoning was he was closer to being NBA ready opposed to other high upside projects. :nonono:

Oh, it's a good deal worse than that!

There's no real reason to think that simply picking Jalen Williams (or Duren or Williams or Griffin or even Eason -- all of whom went in the 7 picks after we took Johnny) would have been the optimal use of our #10 pick.

What about trading down with Houston -- our #10 their #17 & 26.

That's a perfectly reasonable trade, but of course we can't know they would have gone for it. Still, if they had, the move would (or at least could) have wound up with us picking Tari Eason at 17, trading 26 for 29 plus 2 future R2 picks (which is what Houston did with the pick), & taking e.g. Nembhard at 29.

Tari Eason, Andrew Nembhard, & 2 future R2 picks. Vs Johnny Davis -- you make the choice. :)

Or how about our 10 to Cleveland for their 14, 39 & 49 -- or... well, you get the point.

IIRC OKC also has a ton of additional 1str rnd picks coming their way in the next 3-5 years.

They totally kicked our @sses.
