These are annoying. Hes not even pointing at Klay in the top picture, hes pointing at his own bench.

On the bottom...if the guys on the bench scream and talk **** at you while you're shooting (like they do to everyone), then a response (which is also done by everyone) doesnt seem crazy when you make the shot.

Pretty clear that Mikal needs an open court to be successful. He's most dangerous in transition. Team moved better than it has all season last night because the Old Man and DA were out.

Yeah, but in this game he was pretty effective in the half court offense too.

He scored some much needed mid-range shots in the 4th quarter.

I agree, but those are shots he hasn't been hitting in our regular (clogged and stagnant) half-court offense. I thought he got his confidence up by scoring in transition, and he was more comfortable shooting with the additional space and movement in the half-court.

bw pointed out that how uncharacteristically terrible the Warriors shot it last night, which is important to keep in mind. Our strategy the last several seasons has been to keep a relatively slow pace and stymie teams defensively. I just think last night was a pretty good indicator of what all of us already guessed, which is that Mikal belongs on a 7SOL-style team.

I'd like to add that Mikal often caught the ball on the move in the half-court last night. With good spacing and Mikal's great footspeed, he can make a catch off a curl feel like a quasi-transition play. The more Mikal catches the ball with a plan already in mind, the more aggressive and better he will be on offense.

Did Klay make this? I honestly had no idea this man was so sensitive. This might be useful if we get to the playoffs.

It won't happen as OKC would be mental to trade SGA, but this is why I'd trade the farm for him. A pairing of Booker and SGA could do serious damage across the league.

I don't think heart is DA's problem. There were several games during our most recent losing streak when he was trying to direct the team, and everyone else seemed lost and resigned.

I think Paul's the bigger issue. Can't fault him or us for playing him until the wheels fall off. It's okay.

Lining up his successor will be a challenge. We have an option on Cam Payne, and Duane's an RFA. If health continues to bite us, maybe we can draft the heir apparent. In free agency, there's Kyrie, Van Vleet, Clarkson and ::drumroll please:: D'Angelo Russell. I don't like these options very much.

Curious to see how Ishbia plays his hand.

Ayton could be more energetic. And I've said before, that he's just more methodical...sometimes he does overthink things though and freezes..less and less so...but I noticed this all the way back to AZ. I think this is overall, in the long run, a good thing. Often times paralysis by analysis is a sign of a perfectionist, which is kind of good, but at the same time, basketball is a game of instinct, but with repetition those two things get closer and closer.

Also, players and backups (McGee, Biyombo, etc) who come in for 10-16 minutes usually throughout a game usually can just play with a lot more energy. Cs playing 30+ minutes can't or they'd be wiped out. Plus he moves a lot more on offense and defense than most Cs. You have a guy like Capela who only finishes and rebounds and doesn't move much from the rim, will have preserved more energy and will look and be a lot more energetic.

All that being said, Ayton could have a higher motor. He sometimes does. But he also often plays a lot of minutes and gets wiped out, and I think he has solid conditioning.
