Slide Tucker to the 3 and let him guard 1s on offense and Harden guard 3's. Have Thybulle and Melton and Maxey play the rest.

So why not just start Reed with Embiid then?

Maxey
Melton
Harden
Reed
Biid

3 guard unit for offensive flow with double big for defense

Obviously not a starting/closing line-up, but it is really frustrating that we're not experimenting with Reed / Embiid combinations at times during the regular season. He, Melton and Thybulle provide the Sixers so much deflections, turnovers, rebouding.

Weird thing is that Reed has actually shot a decent amount of threes in the G League. If he was given the green light, he would certainly match the 3P attempts of Tucker.

Reed must screw up so many assignments and offensive sets that he doesn't get any chance. But with a condensed schedule like the NBA he will for sure not learn it in practice.

But I am sure that Doc will conclude after 6 PO games that Harrell is unplayable and then play Reed big minutes again for the first time in the season. Such a waste of the regular season.

Im not comfortable with either Reed or Harrell at the C position. In my eyes, Reed is slightly better to both are equal as back-up C.

I have raised the white flag with sixers playing double big. I think its just not Morey’s style. Its the same fear I had when i saw him going all in with microball. Maybe im old school, but I still believe you need to play both big and small.

We’re halfway to the season, I think we’re going all in with “great offense, switchable defense and great deflections that is good enough to make up for horrible rebounding” roster/scheme.

Easier to hope we can be the league’s best offensive team than we becoming a good rebounding team

I think we jumped from 12th in ORTG to 8th just based on that game.

Thybulle was our 2019 pick. Either way, those guys are extraordinarily overrated. Siakam might be the only one worth having the discussion about.

I think our team is probably set but I’d be looking to move Tisse & Shake for a good wing, especially if we think we’re not gonna resign them.

I'd be looking to move Glenn as well, that dude hasn't won a playoff series where his team wasn't massively superior in decades. Sorry for beating on a dead horse, but even if we got ourselves a wing, would it really matter? Since we are almost guaranteed to get outcoached. Maybe I'm too pessimistic.

If we need to send someone to join the slamdunk contest, who would be that guy on our roster?

Sixers needs to play more close games. They are just shooting 40% on crunch time on 11-8 record

Top is the Nets with 50% on 16-3 record

Next best is Celts with 12-5 and Bucks with 14-6

Sixers defense has dipped significantly since Tyrese Maxey returned to the lineup. They had the 4th best defense in the league while he was out, but just 20th best since he's been back

Joel Embiid has generated by FAR the highest points per possession (1.51) passing out of isolation this season

Despite his incredible passing and on-ball gravity, Luka is only generating 0.94 ppp passing out of ISO because his teammates can’t hit a shot. Dallas scores 36% of the time when Luka passes out of ISOs

The worst is Kyrie—BKN scores 18.8% of the time when Kyrie passss out of iso

Look at this graph and tell me how are we optimizing our offensive options

Like, this could easily be in the "fire doc" thread

Also, i like Lue as a coach but oof that Clippers graph

I think the Bucks are the biggest pretender in the NBA, given their offensive rating. They're reliant of Khris Middleton saving the day but he keeps having injury setbacks. I think they're getting upset in round 1, baring any miraculous offensive improvement.

Celtics, Nets, 76ers, and Cavs are the obvious contenders in the East, IMO.

But lowkey, are the Knicks a stealth contender? Time and time again, teams top 10 in offensive and defensive efficiency are proven to be legitimate contenders. Knicks currently 7th in offense and 10th in defense.

i dont see it for the knicks. If you want a pretender thru and thru its the knicks. Barrett and Randle are bad players given with a lot of usage

I agree with the 4 teams you’ve mentioned. These 4 teams also have reliable go to guys down the stretch while being able to play good to great defense.

What im trying to figure out now is which team is better between Celts and Nets. Nets have better go to guys but Celts is equipped to slowdown Biid and Harden.

Nets vs Sixers ECF should also be fun with the Ben-Sixers drama.

We aren't going anywhere until we improve our team defense. Maxey is getting cooked, but surprisingly Melton has gotten torched just as much and nobody mentions that.

At this point, better to hope we can take our offense at the next level than we making a jump on defense.
