Outside of GTJ who do you trust to even be able to get a clean outside shot off vs a man defender?

I get the idea of Quickley and hopefully Fournier doing that job, but I just feel like maybe we are overlooking how crucial what GTJ provides us is

It's good for stopping runs, but they still have that problem with Gary. The motive for me would be to set up the future better rather than pay Gary or risk losing him for nothing.

good in late shot clocks, good against good defences, good when you're not getting whistles, his game is what we need in the playoffs (if we can even get there this season)

I understand not wanting to let him walk for nothing, but I also don't see why we can't go into offseason and look to S+T or match

I agree with you. But, if there's a good deal on the table I wouldn't hesitate to eliminate the uncertainty.

To Magic: VanVleet and Khem Birch (two years, $13.65 million remaining)
To Raptors: Cole Anthony (two years, $9.15 million remaining, likely RFA in 2024), Mo Bamba (two years, $20.6 million), Terrence Ross (one year, $11.5 million) and a top-8 protected 2023 first-round pick

I guess it would depend on the protections going forward. If the limits decrease over time I would consider this.

To Lakers: VanVleet
To Raptors: Patrick Beverley (one year, $13 million), Kendrick Nunn (one year, $5.25 million), Max Christie (two years, $2.74 million, RFA in 2024) and a 2027 first-round pick

What? Why?

To Mavericks: VanVleet
To Raptors: Josh Green (two years, $7.86 million), Davis Bertans (three years, $49 million, including player option for 2024-25) and a 2025 first-round pick

Fire Masai.

To Knicks: Trent
To Raptors: Derrick Rose (one year, $14.52 million, plus team option for 2023-24), Immanuel Quickley (two years, $6.49 million, RFA in 2024), worse of Mavericks/Knicks 2023 first-round pick

Driving Gary and Gary Sr to Pearson.

To Clippers: Trent
To Raptors: Terance Mann (three years, $23.9 million), Luke Kennard (two years, $28.51 million, plus team option for 2024-25), 2028 first-round pick

Love Mann, but Kennard is too much crap to make a 1st 5 years from now worth it.

To Lakers: Trent and Juancho Hernangomez (one year, $1.84 million)
To Raptors: Beverley, Nunn, Christie and a 2027 top-8 protected first-round pick

What? Why?

To Lakers: VanVleet, Trent and Chris Boucher (three years, $35.25 million)
To Raptors: Russell Westbrook (one year, $47.06 million), Christie, 2027 and 2029 first-round picks

Driving Masai and Bobby to their new jobs in LA.

Even a 26-15 second half would still likely have them navigating the Play-In Tournament.

would give us a 44-38 record

Some proposed trades from the article:

To Raptors: Russell Westbrook (one year, $47.06 million), Christie, 2027 and 2029 first-round picks

Thanks for posting this.

- Can't see Orlando making a deal since they can easily sign VanVleet this summer with their capspace.
- Mavericks package highlights how insanely difficult it is for them to land another star player next to Luka...... that's a no for us.
- Lakers and Clippers package no.... maybe if Lakers include both 27 and 29 unprotected 1sts for one of FVV or Trent, but still no...
- Knicks looks more promising. They may do it with Fournier instead.

Knicks would roll with

Brunson
Trent
Rj
Randall
Mitchell

Lots of shots up. Not much defense. But they may like that firepower to sell to fans

Dallas gets cut out of the deal and Knicks take the better player.

Ainge trying to squeeze a 1st pick, eff that!

Collins, Justin Holiday and 2nd pick for Trent,Thad Young and Juancho Hernangomez! Maybe buyout Holiday? Maybe Atlanta waives Juancho?

This move gets them out of the tax.

PG FVV - Barnes - Flynn - Dowtin
SG OG - Siakam - Banton
SF Siakam - Barnes
PF Barnes - Collins - Boucher
C Collins - Achiuwa - Koloko

I'm going to say this until I am blue in the face:

We need to pry Dyson Daniels from the Pelicans and Patrick Williams from the Bulls. Both teams seem to be in win now mode and can likely use some of the vets on our team. The only untoucheables in my book are Scottie, Pascal, and Koloko.

In Masai we trust!

I think I'm going to be a huge fan of Dyson Daniels. Not sure what Pels would want and I don't think they're in a rush to move young assets.

I agree, it would have to be a pretty significant deal for them to let him go, but I wonder if they have any reservations of his ability to play in the playoffs when the pressure gets ratcheted up. The west is wide open this year so they should be seeing all options to shore up their bench.

probably OG. Versatile wing defender who doesn't need a lot of usg%

Alvarado-Herb Jones-OG defensive line up would be so awesome to watch

Out of curiosity, would you guys do the trade if we swapped out Ayton for CamJo? He's locked up and fills a need at center. I think the pick could be this year, but since we're in a tenuous spot that pick would need to be protected. Probably top 5 at least. We'd need filler as the caps don't match. I assume Boucher, Koloko and taking OPJ off your hands.

So you want O.G. - one of the best defenders in the league if not THE best, a better version of Mikal Bridges - plus Boucher, Koloko and OPJ, for Ayton (who looked terrible against us a few weeks ago)? No thanks!

But I may not be the best person to ask, because I don't even like Ayton. At least we know Koloko can hit 3s. At a max contract, DA's probably not what our management is looking for, or a sign and trade would have been consummated last summer.

We're not trading O.G. (unless someone offers a Gobert type deal). Of our core players, he matches Scottie's timeline the best.

Well i was framing it off the question from the article, which said CamJo originally. I'm asking if us changing out him makes it better......

we probably value Ayton more favourably than Cam (and if I recall correctly we had interest in Ayton last summer before the Suns retained him), so in terms of the proposed deal, yes that makes it better. Though I still don't think we'd trade O.G. for either.

How do the salaries match?

OG for Dyson, Jaxson Hayes, and picks.

Swapping OG for Jones in the starting lineup improves their defense and shooting. Feels like a potential win-win.

The Pels don't have to do anything--although they can pick and choose what they'd like to do--they are competitive WITHOUT Zion AND Brandon Ingram because they are so well coached and have great cheap young pieces they have developed wonderfully. I am super jealous of them. They have somehow found a way to use CJ McCollum in an appropriate manner (at point) while hitting on every pick they've had. Sure, they have been bad for a while. But man--that team is going to be scary soon, if they aren't already.

I agree with ORL, they'll likely stay put and use cap space in the offseason instead. It's better for them to get another good draft pick this year anyways than to accelerate the rebuild too quickly.

The supporting cast for the Mavs is pretty meh. The prize would be the 2025 pick. If that has very loose protection or better yet unprotected, then we'd consider it I think. If Mavs throw in 2027 FRP as well, then yes please :).

No thanks to the Clippers trade, but the last Lakers trade is a high risk high reward type trade. We'd be banking on the post Lebron Lakers era to suck, but those picks are really far out. The good thing is we can always trade those picks later for other assets.

Out of all of them, the NY Trent trade has the most potential of happening.

If Myles Turner’s contract talks ultimately stall, New York and Toronto have registered interest in recent transaction cycles, sources said,

Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports reported.

The Knicks hold a trove of first-round draft capital to spend, although the recent performance from Mitchell Robinson may quell any of New York’s attempts to upgrade its frontcourt. The Clippers remain a legitimate suitor for Turner as well, sources told Yahoo Sports.
