Magic fans, what are the plans for JI going forward? Is he going to get reps in and shake off the rust in the G-League or do they want him getting in game shape practicing with the team?

I'm super happy for the guy, but I imagine he should stay in G-League for a little while to get acclimated again. In the highlights he was able to post up and work on much smaller dudes, but it's gonna be much harder on an NBA court.

Good for him, I hope he stays healthy on the court.

It does make me wondering, how severe was the ACL tear? Like Shaun Livingston bad?

He's never had a post-up game.

Right. I mainly meant he looked great for not having played in awhile, but let him run with G-League level players for awhile first- shooting over smaller guys, running by slower bigs, etc.

He looks a long way from being at game speed for the NBA. I wouldn't be surprised if it's after the all-star break before he joins the team.

Even imagining the best/quickest recovery, what would you imagine his chances are of cracking the rotation? Is he taking minutes from Bol Bol and Mo Bamba? Or is he sliding into the minutes that were occupied by Okeke and then Mo Wagner?

What do you think is his role on this Fran/Paolo team?

If he can play defense the way he did prior to his injury, he'll be very valuable for a championship contenders. After this season, he'll have two years left on his contract, which is only $17M/year.

they should leave him there for a while. throwing him into the fire when he wasnt ready is what got him in this situation, i hope ORl is more cautious this time.

Bamba is likely going to be traded after the 15th. Once he's in shape, I could see him replacing Bol in the starting lineup.

Looks sluggish in the video, to be expected. Orlando has got so many interesting possibilities moving forward.

What are my expectations now?

After 15 Lakeland minutes, i am back to pre-bubble JI expectations. Peak year averages 18pts 6 Rebs 2 Steals 2.5 Blocks. Multiple DPOY. In the playoffs teams are going to have to kneel to JI.

Also, fully aware that he might not make it through the rest of this season unscathed.

Even if he starts, I doubt he ever plays more that 20-25 mpg.

Nah, John Isaac is legitimately good defensively when he can stay on the court. Bender didn’t provide anything other than highlight dunks.

Plans are TBD (to us fans) at the moment. He 100% practiced with the NBA team twice last week. There's some internal debate on if he'll play another Lakeland game this weekend. The NBA team is back from the West coast on Monday and won't play again until Friday (1/20). With 2 more practices scheduled, fans are hoping for a season debut that Friday.

We'll see. They asked him after the game and he said not sure if he'll play 1 more Lakeland game or how they'll handle it after the weekend.

It was an ACL + Meniscus tear. Then as he neared return last season, hamstring tear that needed surgery.

There was some contract guarantee angle about Jan 10th. Forget the details but was predictable that he'd return shortly afterwards.
