It's gotta be Fred and/or Siakam

Outside of the team losing, why would Siakam be unhappy in Toronto?

Well team losing is a massive factor that we can't ignore.
He's playing the best basketball of his life and I doubt he wants to waste his prime years on a rebuilding team with no hopes of contending in the near future, especially after getting a taste of a championship.

Not to mention, the FO has failed Siakam.
Since becoming the first option of this squad, he's never gotten an opportunity to play with a point guard/playmaker that can create for him on a consistent basis (Lowry that bubble year doesn't count).
The FO also failed to provide him with a reliable front court partner, he's been forced to play with the likes of Tank Commander Baynes, the dead corpse of Gasol, young rook Koloko, Boucher, etc. Siakam's bread and butter has always been to attract the double team down low and dish it to the open big. His assist numbers would be even higher if he had a reliable center to play alongside. Masai & co. have failed to provide that because they've been too focused on building a team with 6'9 forwards.

So yes, Siakam has every right to be frustrated.
I doubt he demands a trade because he seems too loyal, but no one should be surprised if he asks to be traded.

I;d rather trade FVV and Gary with Khem and Thad (with whatever picks are necessary) for Beal and Will Barton. I want to play Beal at the one and Barton at the two--Siakam at the three OG at the four and barnes at the Five (with Koloko in relief at the five).

Trae Young started the season poorly and I can’t deny that but in his last 10 games he’s shooting around 39-40% from 3 while putting up something like 29/10. I believe he’s turning the corner.

Trae takes twice as many 3s as Scottie and the 3s he’s taking are much more difficult. Only 35% of the 3s Trae takes are assisted whereas for Scottie it’s 82%. You can’t just look at the 3-point percentage. Trae is taking the more difficult 3s and he’s creating most of those shots on his own.

I think his passing and playmaking are elite on top of his scoring and offensively he would fit like a glove on this team.

The reason the point of attack is such a big concern for the Raptors is because they have no rim protection. We’ve seen many teams win with a poor defensive guard. It’s not a big deal imo if there’s help behind them.

If we are trading for Trae then they must get a Turner or Poeltl.

Like mentioned before Trae will cost Barnes. Plus whatever to meet salary. And then Turner will likely cost two picks. Also, would need to trade Fred and Gary. I don't want to watch either of those players playing with Trae. Trae, OG and Pascal is a nice trio though I'll concede that. Pass. I'd rather retool thru the draft this year.

Agreed that any offer would start with Barnes. I was thinking about FVV + Barnes + filler + 2 firsts for him but I don’t know if it’s enough. Also something like Koloko + filler + 1 first for Turner again I don’t know if that’s enough.

Young/GTJ/OG/Siakam/Turner?

Ultimately, I don’t see the Hawks moving Young and I’m on the same page. FVV and GTJ need to be traded at the minimum for the rebuild/retool.

He's handling everything like a true pro but you don't pull the crap that Nurse did to a player who's in a contract year. GTJ won't forget that.

Nah, money talks. All depends if the Raptors intend to pay up. Sure, if an equal bid arises the Raps likely have to up the ante. But that's nothing new.

I know this may be a hot take and people on here might not like it but Scottie worries me.

I'm not one of these guys that expect immediate returns on a guy like him. He's young and largely unpolished.

The issue for me is he isn't particularly good at anything except playmaking and rebounding. He isn't a great shooter or slasher, he doesn't have a great midrange game or floater. Outside of posting up and a hook in the paint, he doesn't really do much on the offensive end.

I pray this changes and I think it will but until then, I personally find it hard to know where to play him. It works right now because Pascal is playing the C but I don't think that's tenable long term.

Losing out on 40M + might be a good enough reason lol.

I don't think it's Siakam though.

Seems like there's a bromance between GTJ/Scottie/OG. Might be some tension between the young heads and the old heads about playing style, but I seriously doubt it's the reason they're losing.

Gary's been on the trade block since last year. Boucher's been in the doghouse. Fred is angling for a big contract. Those three have the best motives to be unhappy and want out. Siakam is sitting pretty. He has the keys and a pathway to a supermax. Scottie seems like he's just happy. OG is getting his opportunities to move up the ladder in scoring. Can't see those three making noise.

Yeah, I still think he has value. And as a big I'm rooting for him to put it together as I enjoy watching legit bigs play. I'm not opposed to the Raps acquiring him. NN and OG is a nice tandem. And I think OG works better with either Pascal or Barnes then Barnes and Pascal work together. Plus OG is pretty funny.

If we are stealth tanking again come deadline we should be getting more draft assets and replenish our bench.

He's having the best year of his career. If anything, Nurse is going to want like 5% of GTJ's earnings from his next contract. LOL. Since Nurse called him out, GTJ has been shooting at a 62% TS% and has stepped it up considerably on the defensive end. He's been phenomenal.

Nurse deserves nothing lol.

GTJ is saving his ass, not the other way around.

Benching GTJ for Koloko practically ruined the season.

Nurse benched him when he was playing like crap, and re-instated him when he was playing better. Apparently Michael Grange said he started working out after games with Rico and his dad to get shots up. So, maybe the threat of making bench money was needed to get him back to what he's good at. He will still go to the highest bidder. Same with Fred.

Houston has no reason to make the trade, but I’m curious what assets it would take to get Sengun. I think his potential is in the direction of a Mark Gasol, Jokic Light player.

I think he’d pair really nice with Scottie and I don’t think he will develop properly playing with a chucking volume scorer like Jalen Green

Sengun would cost us two unprotected first round picks MINIMUM.
HOU would ask for Scottie and nothing less.
Simply put, he's an untouchable.

Yeah GTJ was on his way to getting max money with his 50% TS% and non-existent defense until Nurse stepped in.

Aren't Koloko's on/off splits really good? The numbers seem to suggest the opposite of what you claim.

Even with career best efficiency Trent is still a medicore impact player cause he never playmakes or rebounds and his defense is reliant on gambling for steals. I just don't see the huge appeal of GTJ he's not gonna be worth his next contract.

It depends on what he's paid. If he can play the way he has been playing he will be worth it in my opinion. But he's definitely not a guy I want to be paying 30 million a year too. Fortunately, I don't see him getting anywhere near that.
