Very interesting interview in Serbian with English subtitles. You really get an insight to how Jokic thinks about the game. How humble he is. The most I have seen Jokic open up to anyone in the media. Talks about never wanting the MVP award. Never his goal. That’s refreshing

If Luka by some miracle can keep Dallas in a top 3 seed by the end of the season I think he has the MVP locked up.

Otherwise I have Tatum winning it as long as Boston stays clearly ahead of the other teams in the league and he keeps up his current pace for the rest of the season. Jokic has a much harder path with the Nuggets probably needing the number 1 overall seed and him averaging a triple double. It's been two seasons of the media, besides Lowe, wanting to give the MVP to anyone else but Jokic and I don't see that changing this year if they are offered an alternative.

Statistically, there is too much of a difference between the top 4 and everyone else (see below). Davis and Embiid have (or will have) missed too many games so it's between Jokic and Doncic. If you take into account impact statistics and record then Jokic has a nice lead.

Also, Sportsbet has Jokic and doncic $3.5 dollar favourites. If you put a $1k on both you are almost guaranteed to make $1.5k profit.

Doncic is the easily MVP this season, no contest. Only the injury and the total collapse of Dallas in the second part of the season can prevent him from winning it

You are biased if you think there is no contest.

It's Luka, Jokic 1-2 and then a slight drop to Tatum and Embiid.

Durant is gone after a month out. That's the 4. Giannis is sliding unles Milwaukee turns it around.

sure, no bias here :)

Embiid has played 30 games and the 76ers won 18 of those games
Durant has played in 39 and the Nets have won 26 of those
but Embiid is 4th and Durant is way behind haha :)

idk when Durant will come back or how many he would end up missing
I also don't know that Embiid will play all the games in that stretch

Durant is way ahead of Embiid rn, let's talk in a month - maybe then Embiid will close the gap from him

If Tatum wins it beside Jokic and Doncic this year, it would be most unfair MVP award in a while.
Tatum is having a great year, but his teammate is having almost the same stats as him, even having a higher fg%.
Tatum is not even top 10 in PER, by far the worst fg% of all the MVP candidates... his fg% is dropping every month. In January he is shooting just 43%.
Denver also has just 1 loss more then Boston atm.

Stop using FG%.

Use eFG% for field goal attempts and TS% for shooting efficiency.

A somewhat useful statistic.

I don’t see what has Happened that has Jokic losing ground to the field...I think it’s still Jokic by a large margin.

I think Dallas could be first in the west by the end of January because their schedule is easy as hell upcoming and then the conversation is different ....significantly.

If Luka is first and playing this well he will be in the conversation.

If Tatum or Giannis or KD or Embiid or Curry have their teams with better records than mavs or Denver by end of year and they all healthy it could be a dead heat coming to the end... best race in a long time

Around the mid-season mark I have it like this:

1. Jokic
2. Luka
--
3. Durant
4. Tatum
--
5. Embiid
6. Giannis
7. Mitchell
8. Ja

Curry, Dame, Butler, AD and LeBron could be in the conversation based on their level of play but they've all missed a good chunk of time already, while all their teams are also in the play-in or entirely out of the play-offs.

Surprise surprise.......Jokic still one...

2-5 is still moving around - Luka is 2 and was 3 last week, Tatum is now 3 was 2 last week - Giannis is 4 was 5 and now Embiid has joined the party at 5!

The 2 time reining mvp is still reining....
