Jan 15th I believe, so yeah pretty soon. They'll try to trade Boucher I think, but maybe no takers unless he plays better. if his contract gets swapped with an expiring it gives us more cap room to re-sign Fred/Trent without going into the tax (if it comes down to that).

lol
last season Boucher playing out of his mind for his career to not end on a 7M expiring - don't trade him
this season Boucher playing worse on 12M for 3 guaranteed years - let's dump his contract for cap space

Earlier last season, Boucher was horrible as well (shooting contested shots, high turnover, etc.). Basically earlier last season, we allowed everyone to try and develop them, and we did with Boucher, Achiuwa, Barnes, etc. Then some how we limited them in a role, and we started to gain in standing.

I don't see we are trading Boucher, unless there is a deal that we really like. He is a 3&D shot blocker, which is exactly we need in the long term. With the spacing issue, I think he is a better fit for the next 2 years when we acquire someone who can make our shooters better.

As a Bulls fan, I’d want to avoid a fairly oft-injured, small guard heading toward both 30 and a lucrative long term deal. Fred’s tough for you guys. Too good to give away w/o getting value, but not good enough in context to get you anything that great.

Curious on Raptor fan thoughts on a trade I proposed given the assumption your ownership wants to continue to compete.

Raptors out:
Birch/Thad/Otto Porter’s body
2024 top 8 protected 1st (2025 top 4, then none after)

Bulls out:
Vuc

I think you’d want some back channel discussions to establish that Vuc would resign on a reasonable deal, but I think he makes the team better and helps push you into the playoffs.

I see Khem/Thad are getting DNPs and we’d need to waive Otto’s physical.

Raps have the perfect front court to cover for his defensive deficiencies (we do not….not at all). He’s a great defensive rebounder, has re-found his 3 ball this season (I see his 37.7% would top everyone but Flynn), can post a little, and is an unselfish passer.

For us it’s about the pick, and getting rid of a guy who’s expiring and doesn’t fit with our other key players defensively,

That's a decent trade offer. We get rid of deadweight for next year (20 million).

If the protections were a little bit better and we knew we could get Vuc to come back on a reasonable deal. It wouldn't be that bad. You would have a guy who could stretch the defense and score on mismatches. I haven't watched him in a few years but i imagine you could plug him in for 24 minutes a game.

Add in the fact that you get off those contracts that are basically useless and you'll gain a lot more flexibility.

But I hope and don't think we go for it just because we're not competing for a title and we have a few guys we're trying to develop at the 5 spot. It would help us a lot for this year, but Koloko and precious are hopefully only another year or two away from being able to provide consistent minutes at the 5. If the raptors were to give up future draft picks, I hope it would be for someone they can build with. Not a stop gap vet that turns this team from a bubble team to a team that might win a game or two in the first round.

Raptors isn't giving up any pick for non-star. We are not a free agent destination, we rely on developing young talent in-house.

16 games until trade deadline including last night vs Charlotte. I guessed our record. I will update after each game.

(17-23)

Jan 10 - Charlotte - W (18-23)
Jan 12 - Charlotte - W (19-23)

Jan 14 - Atlanta - W
Jan 16 - @ NY - L
Jan 17 - @ Milwaukee - L
Jan 19 - @ Minnesota - L
Jan 21 - Boston - L
Jan 22 - NY - W
Jan 25 - @ Sacramento - L
Jan 27 - @ G.S. - L
Jan 28 - @ Portland - L
Jan 30 - @ Phoenix - L
Feb 1 - @ Utah - W
Feb 3 - @ Houston - W
Feb 5 - @ Memphis - L
Feb 8 - San Antonio - W

Feb 9 = Trade Deadline.

7-9 record as per above (24-32). But lets say we get 2 extra wins and go 9-7 instead, we would be (26-30).

To put things in perspective on Feb 9 of last year (deadline was Feb 10), our record was 30-23.

I don't know the way the team has bounced back with some healthy bodies... doesn't look like the Raps are gonna tank this year and those losses in your list might be wins..... Flynn.. is getting playing time before Dowtin and Banton..I think he might be traded with like say a Chris Boucher in some deal... only if we are getting something decent in return.. Masai and Bobby will just stand pat if needed.. I see Banton getting some run in the second half of the season..

Pascal is doing his thing..
Looks like FVV has found his 3 point shot
Barnes is back on track
Trent is healthy again
Precious is getting his legs back
OG just robbing everybody

We traded down, still we didn't give up a pick for Young, and it was salary mis-management that we need to trade away Dragic to keep 15 players.

we bounced back because of the b2b against charlotte. It'll be disappointing if we sit on this team because we're capable of beating the worst teams in the league

Yep. Plus i gave benefit of 2 extra wins on that. Only 26-30 by deadline. We cant be a play in team and get stuck in the middle. Somethings gotta give.

This thread has very little talk about trade rumors. Maybe there aren't any new ones. But it's far more just another thread for posters'trade ideas and suggestions

There's not much out there right now in terms of juicy rumors. There will be some trades but nothing blockbuster it seems.

Yeah I wonder what is the best we can get for some combination of Flynn, Boucher, Thad, Juancho. I don't see management touching the core or Koloko. Maybe Gary as some rumors have it, but then shooting is lost. It's time to move on from Fred but I don't think mgmt has the desire for that.

I heard on the latest Zach Lowe pod with guest Bill Simmons a trade rumor of OG Anunoby & filler (Thad?) for Keegan Murray and Harrison Barnes.

What do you guys think?

Barnes is UFA, so his value to the Raptors is filler. He's also better than OG right now overall. Sacramento is probably going to value Murray pretty significantly as an asset that can appreciate over his rookie contract. I'm guessing Simmons proposed this, because it makes little sense for either team.

suggestion not legit. Lowe spoke to a guy from a rival team about kings and said they should go after OG with that package. 1:17

Right, so a rival suggested that the Kings should get better? No, they thought of a stupid trade for the Kings to make, and one that only marginally is beneficial to the Raptors.

Barnes really better than OG?

I feel like guys like Simmons and other Americans see the Raptors as a source of talent to make other teams better. They don't look into or care how it affects the Raps.
