This is quite ridiculous. I can't remember when was the last time Mavs had a worse bench than right now. Bertans, Ntilikina, McGee, Bullock + 3 Gleague players. This is beyond bad. Green, Maxi, DFS all injured and havent played for well over a month. There are legit 4 usefull players right now on Mavs roster. Luka, Wood, Dinwiddie and THJ. This team is far from what they were with Brunson and specially when they were healthy.

The fact that Mavs are at the 5th spot right is mind boggling as it was last year when heavily depleted Nuggets finished 6th.

From the department of cherry picked statistics... a bastardized (and subjective) version of on/off that for some reason treats roster spot #2 as infinitely more important than roster spots 3-12.

Yeah, no.

Dang man lol. It's like you get arrested in this thread for saying anything nice about anyone other than Luka or Jokic. It's ok if other players are good too.

They have myriad reasons not to vote for him but they still do nonetheless because there’s simply no one in the league more important to the success of their team. And they vote with gritted teeth but I don’t think they are too happy about it. Skin color be damned.

The Nuggets just handedly beat a Clippers team on the road without Jokic. The Mav's would be lucky to win 15 games all season without Luka. The Nuggets are a 30-35 win team at best without Jokic. There is a massive difference in talent between the two supporting casts here and people need to stop pretending as if there isn't for the sake of propping up Jokic.

Luka's gotta deal with that, his supporting cast this year is still miles ahead of what Jokic had to drag to 46 wins last year.

Jokic's supporting cast is certainly better this year though.

Regarding beating "handedly beat a Clippers team on road", well, lets see...

With Jokic, facing Clippers with PG and Kawhi: Win by 31, up by 40 at one point in first half...
Without Jokic, facing Clippers with only Kawhi: Win by 12

So a 19 point difference - FYI I'm not sure if you know this but last year's data analysis shows that an MVP candidate moves a spread by around ~6-7 points. I think the highest was Jokic at 7 points.

They didnt win against Celtics or Grizzlies without Jokic, they beat the clippers who lost 8 of their last 9 games. Their only win was against Mavs :D

Eyeatoma- How's your part time employee (Embiid) doing? Does he have a special contract allowing him to play 55 games a year?

Guy has played 402 team games and has missed 326 games in his career.

Your Hero! The guy you've spent hundreds of posts defending, ruining these MVP threads, for the past 3 years, while incessantly spitting on/downplaying/minimizing Jokic, who has missed 32 games in his entire career, and who has been better/more valuable than Embiid every year, the past 3 years?

Strike 2 for baiting.

Steph picking up where he left off going to be a good end of the season for the Dubs. Or can go with the high usage guys.

I've been giving Luka more credit this season because his teammates aren't as good as the other MVP contenders.

Boston fans should be more worried who will win finals MVP, Brown or Tatum. Regular season shouldn't be this important for such an amazing team that can easily win it all.

You taking the "higher ground" after spending the first weeks of the season putting down Jokic left & right is hilarious. Last I checked, you having literally hundreds (if not 1000+) of posts bashing Jokic last time I searched your profile.

This thread is pretty toxic with Jokic fans rushing in to slap down anyone who tries to bring up other people but it is what it is.

His team just won against a playoff team without him and it either means nothing or is really more proof of how great he is.

The insecurity would make sense if he hadn't won before but he's the reigning two time MVP. Like we all get he's good you don't have to inject him into every conversation.

His team won against the 8 seed who was missing their leading scorer as well...

They were up 40 against said "playoff team" when Jokic played, and beat that playoff team (sans their leading scorer) when Jokic sat by 12...

Not sure that this is the argument that you think it is...

All this toxicity when others don't agree on who should be MVP is a shame. To me it should be Jokic now with Luka an inch behind and a handful of others who could stake a claim with a strong second half of the season but if the majority of this board decides it should be Alex Caruso then so be it. It's fine to not always be in the majority.

First of all, no, he hasn't picked up where he left off. His first two games back, he shot 5/15 and 2/7 from three. 22 shots for 24 points and then 12 shots for 15 points. He has already missed too many games probably, and when you have such an intense MVP race with so many great performances and consistency, that's just not enough, it cannot be enough. Even if the Warriors ends up with home court. I'm not saying he is 100% out of this, but probably 70%. It would not only take him playing OUT OF HIS MIND for the rest of the way and not missing nearly any games, but we would need a collapse from the Celtics, Nuggets and the Mavs (the Mavs are actually getting there with all the injuries).
