Dame Auditioning?

Post#1 » by m0ng0 » Sun Jan 15, 2023 7:45 pm

I wonder if he is auditioning for a trade? He is the best Blazer EVER, and he is lighting it up every night. I wonder if he is building up his value to get the hell out of here? He won't win a ring here, he has nothing else to accomplish in Portland and again he ain't winning jack here. He can't seem to recruit players to us, not many players have that kind of swag and he is the perfect piece for a team on the brink of winning it all. Just a thought...

Not likely many teams will want to absorb that extension

Yeah, his end goal is to be traded that is why he has made no demands for a trade. It's the classic want something, but don't bother to tell anyone genius level strategy.

I'm going to take an educated guess that based on his performance in January over the last several seasons, he's just on his customary mid-winter hotstreak.

2020-2021: 31.5 ppg on 47% & 41% shooting.
2019-2020: 34ppg on 49% & 45% shooting
2018-2019 he actually had an overall down January month, but that was primarily at the start of the month where he struggled where he's traditionally really kicked it into gear in the second week of January.

You can see the gamelog for January 2018-2019 season here https://www.espn.com/nba/player/gamelog/_/id/6606/type/nba/year/2019

2017-2018: 25ppg on 50% and 43% shooting.

This often also extends into the first couple weeks of February.

I'm not sure where the idea he's 'auditioning to get traded' rather than 'historical pattern with Dame' came into play.

Blazers also tend to win a lot more games the last few weeks of the season, Dame is in top form as the playoffs approach.

Auditioning for the All-Star game. Currently just behind Westbrook in the voting. :D

They lost 9 of the last 11 games prior to this weekend. What was he auditioning for then? Maybe he's just trying to win. Hes been known to do that a time or two.
