Giddey is someone any team would go for. Why Utah?
Because Conley is 200 years old, Sexton is not a floor general, and we need a true PG.
Exactly! I also feel that if the Jazz are keeping Lauri Markkanen, there is no point in going for a full rebuild and waiting on picks from upcoming drafts to come good as starters. The Jazz need someone who can take the reins as PG now.
This season should be written off. Next season Lauri will be 26, Kessler will be 22, Vanderbilt will be 24 and Agbaji will be 23. These guys make a nice group for the Jazz to build with. Giddey will be 21 next season, yet plays with a maturity beyond his age. When I look at other potential PG targets around the league, he fits best with this group and they fit him very well too.
I feel the Jazz should definitely try for Giddey whether it is now or in the summer. Sexton and a first round pick or two sounds right. Then start looking at more SGs and SFs who would improve the team further, ideally with players who are between 20-26 years.
If the Jazz can get Giddey, other players to target for SG and SF are Terance Mann, Patrick Williams, Grayson Allen and Saddiq Bey.
OKC isn’t trading Giddey for Sexton and a first round pick. Giddey’s value is much higher than that. He’s one of their franchise cornerstones next to SGA.

It’s like when lil bitches make subliminal records, if it ain’t directed directly at me, I don’t respect it

You see a slower guy with guard skills and think players can only get to the basket with speed.
that's a heck of a generalization. i was a luka truther, and i am a giddey skeptic. luka was balling out in europe as a teenager like no one ever before. he also has a 7' wingspan. this is a lazy comparison.

When did Giddey became so underrated?

We had another Giddey thread just a couple of weeks ago.
We get it, he's not that guy.

A lot of things are holding him back. Aside from rebounding, he doesn't really excel at anything. He's a decent player overall, but if I were the Thunder I would not look at him as a long-term starter.

Presti wouldn't even answer the phone for that offer. Sexton would be a downgrade from Giddey, is older, higher contract and is a UFA after this year. Ainge can throw all the picks (he wouldn't) he wants, but OKC is looking to consolidate picks, not expand. Trying to get Giddey was delusional to begin with, but with the way he's played the last month or so it's a non-starter.

If Sexton was not a downgrade, the Jazz would not be attaching picks.

Sexton is under contract for 3 more seasons (2025-2026 season). He signed a new deal as a Sign-and-Trade as part of the Mitchell trade.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

And, like I said, Presti doesn't want/need more picks.

You are right. I misread the graphic I had looked up.

Getting to the basket and being a 3-level scorer doesn't require speed, it can be achieved in other ways. You should not underestimate strong legs and the ability of guys like old LeBron and Luka to move strong to the basket.
Giddey isn't moving around players he's driving to the basket with guys on his hip and he's unfazed.
Giddey has strong legs, he will surprise people with a blossoming scoring arsenal in next couple seasons . I think he's an All NBA level talent.
It's hilarious.
This kid is going to pack on another 30lbs in the next 3 or so years and become a bulldozing guard, with incredible BBIQ, fantastic passing and an elite rebounder for his position.
He's already starting to score at will driving to the rim, how is he getting guarded when he's 240+ lbs?
"Can't improve" Rofl.
