I don't think Josh actually knows this, but I do think this is what will happen. If anything, we'll see a GTJ (probably for C) trade.

i posted in fred thread.

direct quote was "masai finding every reason not to blow up the core" ... but thats pretty vague. And ya masai wants the team to win but come the deadline we will have a losing record ... masai still the goat, he'll figure it out

Trade Fred. If you can't get a 1st, fill the obvious holes....a real C, a guard who can....guard, find someone who can shoot, etc...

That's kind of where I'm at with it too. If we can do a Rudy Gay type trade with Fred I think it would be best for all parties. I have a hard time believing this season's Fred is just who he is now - something is up. I'm no expert but I can't help but feel his body language is off.

One would think given their success so far this year, New Orelans could look to upgrade their top 8 for a playoff run.

How about something like:

Tor in: Daniels, Hayes, Graham, Temple, Lewis
Daniels is the obvious prize, but Hayes could be interesting too. Flynn/Lewis is a wash, but maybe a greener pastures thing.

NO in: FVV, Thad, Flynn, Juancho
They shuffle some youth to upgrade their top 8 for a playoff run. I think Fred would do very well for New Orleans, and think his play would fit their style better than the current Raptors.

Just a rough framework for money/roster spots/value. Tinker with it as you will

Buddy, I am pretty sure you are joking but keep that stuff to yourself. Enough journalists are having to deal with constant trolls and threats; we should probably chill out over a basketball team.

Could just be Masai using the media to keep the offers high on his players.

Yep, pretend like you a really committed to the core, so that if someone wants one of them, they are really going to have to offer a crap load to get a piece.

How nice of you to stick up for a "journalist" (he is not). Yeah my joke is flippant which is very appropriate when he makes flippant unsubstantiated claims that Scottie's underperformance earlier in the season are due to him not working hard over the summer (when clearly Scottie had an ankle injury). Guess what? My joke was only read by a few people, but his lie poisoned the minds of thousands. So you can keep your opinion to yourself.

You might be doing too much. Fred for Daniels and Graham should do it.

I thought this before Lewenberg even tweeted it. He speaks very highly of the starters (except for Gary) in every single interview. Would not surprise me if this is true.

So it sounds like management doesn't really seem to care about the draft as much as they probably should but rather they're holding out to see whatever they think the best return can be for Gary & just letting chips fall where they may after....not loving the sounds of that plan because it could cause us to miss the exact kind of upside we NEED moving forward.

The Raptors NEED to find a prospect at least at the level of guys like Whitmore, Ausar, Miller, Walker have. Someone who may have all-star level potential AND is BIGGER will be sought out defensively. If they don't act soon on Gary they run the risk of falling further down the draft at which point they just really have to hope that player will be comparable to Gary as 18+ppg player, George is likely off the board, you'd have to either hope an underperforming Whitehead looks much better next year or that Maxwell Lewis is a true steal to just get a player somewhere around the mid-lotto that can not only get buckets like Terquavion & Jett Howard but be able to keep up defensively as well. With the exception of maybe Miller, all of those guys in the 5-8ish range are known to be good defenders plus all-star like potential. I don't quite see all-star for any of Lewis, Whitehead, Smith or Howard. So the trade off of trying to get a bit more for Gary doesn't seem worth it to me when you could cost yourself looking at a completely different level of prospect.

When was Masai 's last interview, not for awhile right? Wonder when he will deign to speak to fans again .

I have a gut feeling, I posted a couple times, that he won't trade an African player. I think he's too fond of FVV to trade him too

I haven't watched much of Patrick Williams, but his shooting (albeit low volume) is quite impressive

Id be interested to take Williams off the bulls hands, perhaps take on a bad but expiring contract like vucevic.

Return to Toronto Raptors
