Noah Clowney - Alabama

Post#1 » by MemphisX » Wed Jan 11, 2023 1:33 pm

I think he should have his own thread. Not sure if he will be a 1AD for sure at this point. However, as a Grizzlies fan, I am looking for dudes who might be around after the lottery.

Picked a good day to make this thread. He was dominant in a big win over Arky. I believe Bama is for real this year. Veteran guard play in Quinerly and Sears, with Clowney and Miller exceeding expectations.
Anybody got a comp for him?

I like Clowney a lot. Think he can be a 4th big day one and grow into a starter. High level 3D 4/5 that fills the box score and wins you games.

I think there is potential for him in a Christian Wood style role offensively

Good comp. Much better defender IMO. Not a headcase either.

IMO there's a slim chance he's the first big other than Wemby drafted.

It's between Filipowski or Ware, I don't think Lively has a shot. Then when I look at current NBA playstyles Ware and Clowney clearly stand out with their two-way ability and potential to stretch the floor.

Really like Clowney. Like the versatility of being able to play the 4 or the 5.

He can play the 5 and not even really be that undersized. Or you put him at the 4 and run a double big lineup, something that has been very effective for teams like Boston and Milwaukee over the past couple years.

Nothing flashy about his game or his personality. Just a kid who shows up, plays hard, plays the right way, plays well. Seems to have good basketball IQ. Knows where he's supposed to be on both ends of the floor.

Has good quickness and fluidity with the way he moves for a dude of that size. Combine that with the size/strength/toughness/physicality to body people inside, combined with flashes of switching out on the perimeter defensively, runs the floor well in transition. Can rebound, block shots, hit 3's.

The form on his shot looks good, I think he's a better shooter than the percentage indicates.

7'2" wingspan and he's one of the youngest players in the class. Doesn't turn 19 till July.

I wouldn't be shocked if he goes late in the lottery.

Here's a vid of him battling GG Jackson last season. He was hitting 3's back then too, and a couple of plays where he dominates GG inside the paint.

Like the potential fit of Clowney next to Chet. OKC will likely be picking in the middle of the first round..

So weird, a full 2 round mock draft just posted by Wasserman, no Clowney to be found:

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10056355-2023-nba-mock-draft-updated-full-2-round-predictions

Perhaps he has intel that Clowney isn't planning on declaring this year?
