Yeah, the servers in bowties doesn't do it for me. It's a ballpark, not a 5-star restaurant.
That said, I like the idea of more open spaces. If the decor is as staid/cold as shown in this preview, they can always redecorate down the road.

Good idea on the raised bullpens. Thats probably the best thing out of all this.
Next off-season they better put bigger comfortable seats

I'm looking forward to the next phase when they fix the 100 level.

What does this mean? I was under the impression that the team we're putting together is exactly the one an established player would come to?

In the case of Grossman, it means that he wouldn't want to be a bench guy getting limited PAs.
**** your asterisk.

We are a great spot for a 4th outfielder type that wants a chance to break through because our 4th outfielder has a good chance to play more than our 3rd (and our 2nd) outfielder.
But not a good place for someone that wants a starting gig out of spring training.

Re: General Blue Jays Thread
Interesting choice to retire from Phelps. He had a decent though unspectacular season, and with his track record I have to think some team would have thrown $1.5-$2M at him this off-season.
Good for him going out on a relatively high note.

Re: General Blue Jays Thread
Those are massive differences. Kinda funny that we prioritized adding outfield defense and then reduced the power alleys significantly, but our righties are mostly all-fields power sorts, so it's going to help them as much as it helps the lefties. Vlad, Bo and Kirk all do a fair bit of their damage to RCF...I count at least five balls that Kirk hit that went for doubles to RCF last year that, if hit in the new Rogers Centre (they were on the road), would have been home runs.

Re: General Blue Jays Thread
I like that the outfield dimensions will now be asymmetric - should help it feel more like a ballpark. But I'm not sure how I feel about only 357 to RCF - that seems really low, too low in fact. A team like the Yankees that always loads up on LHH power bats to take advantage of Yankee Stadium could really benefit from this.

Yuck. Add 10 feet everywhere.
Hitters are bigger, stronger, gearing their swings for higher launch angles than ever before.
Then again if we cater the ballpark so Vladdy can hit 80, then we can guarantee he'll sign with us! Only drawback,, it's now 100 million per.

Higher fences tho? I suspect of minimal effect...
