What is the biggest problem in NBA

It's just easier to find discussion topics that originate from issues you encounter. You can view that as a glass half-empty viewpoint I guess?

This doesn't mean that folks don't enjoy various aspects of the NBA. It's just less interesting / harder to come up with thought-provoking discussion topics about them.

I could also flip this around and say that often in life what you find is a reflection of what you are looking for. Note that I won't in this case; because on a forum like this there definitely are a lot of complainers

I think the discussions have taken a life of their own as a byproduct of the sport and people enjoy them seperately, sometimes even more than the game itself. I don't see anything wrong with that personally, it's nice to talk to people from all over the world even if some discussions can be negative. I can easily edit those out of my daily feed. Or I can go and find them if I'm in the mood

didnt know a foul on transition would be rewarded with a free throw point. so even if you genuinely attempt to steal the ball before a fast break begins, when you foul, the opponent shoots a free throw and keeps the possession as well.

so basically NBA says, never play defense. this is the biggest problem. favouring high scores by all means. the problem in the long term is that no matter how steak is so delicious, you cant eat it every day.

Definitely player empowerment is a problem. Can't have the inmate running the building as they say. Too many spoiled rich guys complaining and want to take games off when they feel like. Definitely effects the product. I'm also down for robot referees, because these guys suck and hold no accountability. I really still do think they bet on games.

Biggest problem is that they use a fake winning % league table. The real league table is the point differential table. Changing this would actually have a huge effect on making teams take the regular season more seriously because the stats show that if you're doing poorly on point differential, you have no chance in the playoffs.

If this is adopted then team stat-padding instantly becomes a thing and your correlation between point differential and playoff success becomes invalid.

You can't stat pad your way to a good point differential because of the defense element

What is interesting about this thread so far is that just about everybody that responded has picked a different pet issue or perceived problem that bothers them the most.

If there is no clear consensus on which major issues are harming the league, isn't that in fact a good sign? Is the league in a good spot all things considered?

(Not that I think the current league is perfect, just to be clear. Playing devil's advocate.)

The poll question is what I was looking for.

Should have used the word bigger in the thread title. Basically thinking specifically about owners and/or players not being as competitive as possible for whatever reason.

You really can see when a player is dogging it for a long period of time. Their stats fall off and then if/when they get in a better situation or mood, their stats tend to come back to the norm.

With owners I think money talks but bad management caused by paying friends or family can also play a role. I really want to see a hard cap to eliminate problem number one with the owners
