How has shaedon been?
I’ve been watching him since he was 14 and his minutes are limited so obviously I’m going to have serious bias towards him. What do blazers fans think? Do you see the star potential? How has he been on both ends? Does he play with lillard well ?

He's shown potential and tons of it. I dont think he's a great defender yet but he has the size to be so I see upside there. Scoring wise he's pretty streaky but he hasn't had enough time on the court to develop into a consistent player yet so that doesn't concern me just yet

Re: How has shaedon been?
Honestly as a Blazer fan his instincts on both sides of the court kind of reminds me a bit of CJ if he was bigger and super athletic. He's a bit too happy working himself into long and mid range shots off the dribble but can hit them, still like CJ he is just too comfortable putting up tough shots that no one really should be taking. I have no doubt he will be the kind of player to get on a heater some games and just start draining shots from everywhere. He doesn't seem to have elite court vision in terms of passing, but he does make decisions about the simple play very fast.
Defense.. has a ways to come, which is not unexpected. Hard to get a read on his effort levels, sometimes he just looks like he is coasting, I am not sure if its a lack of knowing what to do but his instincts on defense leave a lot to be desired as he gets caught ball watching and is a step late way too often. He has length and speed to compete but he's almost so explosive that defenders can use that to create space if they can get him moving the wrong way so he has a lot to learn about anticipation and patience without being lax on defense. I think what looks like an effort thing is really a lack of knowledge thing and not wanting to do the wrong thing, we shall see as he develops.
But then on both sides he can make explosive amazing plays at the rim and has the length, strength and speed to play multiple positions. I think in the preseason an idea of "upload speed" (or how fast someone learns things) was talked about in relation to Shaedon, that he picks things up fast - which certainly corresponds to him finding a legit role for an NBA team as a no-college rookie. So the sky is still certainly the limit. I don't think we have the next Kobe or MJ unless he takes a couple huge steps forward defensively, maybe not the next Harden if he doesn't improve his ability to facilitate as a PG, but I think quite realistically we could have the next Lavine or Booker, which healthy and brought up and developed under Dame's tutelage you couldn't ask for a better situation to maximize that potential. (I'm also really bad at player comps so don't get hung up on those too much)

I would like to see him be more aggressive on offense. His offense off the bench could be huge. Right now he seems a little too passive.

His handle may be his biggest weakness at this point IMO, buy that's not surprising gven no college play and being only 19. When his handle starts improving, I think we will see a vast offensive improvement from him. Being with Dame will be a big benefit as will playing with GPii for defensive tutelage. He's got incredible natural ability and a very silky smooth shot, looking for big things but may take another couple years for him to really "arrive".

Oh I understand his game isn't complete yet. I just believe that he needs to be a little more aggressive on offense. Right now it seems he goes through stretches where he doesn't try to score. I don't expect him to carry the team but be aggressive enough that the opposing teams need to guard him more tightly.

Re: How has shaedon been?
I'm all in on the Shaedon Sharpe bandwagon. Have been since day one. I just love watching freakish athleticism. I am sad that GB3 isn't good enough to get minutes. I was a huge Elliot Williams fan. Loved watching Darius Miles. None of these players are/were conductive of winning a 'chip, but if you're a Blazers fan, what are you expecting? Enjoy the show. And be glad Shaedon isn't 6'3" being forced to play small forward.
Because love can burn like a cigarette.

He’s a young rookie with less experience than normal.
What he can already do as a SG gives hope … in about two years.
His upside is high enough to make way too early Devin Booker comparisons.

Re: How has shaedon been?
He is a great young talent. Can get to the rim, pull up and shoot from deep.
Will surprise on the offensive boards.
Can get burned ball watching and needs to work on his defensive awareness.
Not much of a playmaker but doesn’t seem to have tunnel vision or to be especially selfish.

I was hoping and expecting this to be one of the first replies. You did not disappoint. Jroy have it all.

Re: How has shaedon been?
I'm with BC, I'd like to see him be more a part of the offense. He defers to Lillard and Simons. I'm sure that's by design, but I'd like to see him with the ball more than he does now. In three years, he will be a stud.

Re: How has shaedon been?
Shaedon has the potential to be one of the best players in the NBA, he shows tremendous skill and athleticism already and he is only 19 years old. I am very glad we didn't throw him in on an OG trade, because OG has a lot more limitations and it would have cost us a good amount more to get him.
He needs to work on some things he is not good at, but I am blown away that despite playing 0 college games and not even being old enough to walk into a bar yet he is this good.

Great finisher and athlete. The potential is definitely there but I can't be much ecstatic about the rest of his game.
He needs to improve a lot in other areas to end up a better player than say another Nick Young/JR Smith/Gerald Green.

If he was a complete product at 19 he would be on pace to be a potential GOAT, it's way too early to predict exactly how good he will be but very few players are anywhere near their peak at 21 or less. Especially for a player that played in 0 college games, this guy had to take the big jump from high school to the NBA.

Re: How has shaedon been?
i like the shaedon here were others i liked also in the draft, but like others said we wont see full potential for a couple years.
imo he would blossom and grow faster in a motion style offense. i cant stand iso (hero) ball. and i feel like it gets passed down from player to player instead of a system that teaches a good flow instead of taking tougher shots. they all do it, its been happening since mcmillen or probably before.
but i think all the blazers would have a easier time in some sort of motion offense and i like his size and athleticism.

Re: How has shaedon been?
shaedon sharpe without a doubt has the potential to be a 3-level scorer, weve seen him shoot and make 3-pointers, mid range shots and he attacks & finishes at the rim and he is a high flyer, great alley-oop option, but time will show how good can he become at these things, its important to know that he didnt play in college, basically came to the nba from the high school
ive seen him stay in front of his man defensively, he has a really quick feet, but obviously, hes lost on the defensive end which is to be expected, but with time he should become familiar with the defensive scheme, but also raise his awareness and become disciplined and his body is yet to be developed, all these things can help him become defensive player too
to me, shaedon sharpe definitely has the potential to become an all-star (hopefully franchise player), but unfortunately for him, hes on a team thats trying to make the playoffs, so obviously he wont play as much and wont shoot as much as he would on a tanking team, but on the other hand, hes lucky to be on the same team with dame lillard, one of the best leaders in the nba who will help him develop the offensive game, but also help him deal with the stuff nba players have to deal with
his athleticism is off the charts, once he gets his body developed, watch out!
