the guy take turns every second day whether to follow okc or clippers. I am lost about which team he actually is fan of.

OKClipsFanAgain as a username would be a good compromise.

Kawhi had missed too many games:

Year 1: 25 games missed
Year 2: 30 games missed
Year 3: 82 games missed
So far this season: 24 games missed

The guy gets a scratch and sits for 2 weeks.

OP's relationship with the aforementioned franchises is well known but objectively, when looking at their situation I think it's a relevant reference point

The Clippers traded SGA to win a 'chip
Not only had they not won one (or even come close) - the SGA led thunder might be ahead of them as early as next season

Balmer got dominated by KL after that Raps run and even let him pick his running mate, which the Clipps traded Sga (and more) for PG13

edit:

it's similar to the Nets if they dont get it done:

We can all wonder what would have happened by now if they just continued to build around Kd\Kyrie, kept Jarret, Dinwiddie, levert and Atkinson

3-4 years is long time in Nba terms

it natural to look or hypothesize about alterernate timelines and what ifs

it's not about hindsight being 20/20, I can understand why the Clipps made the big moves back then and see that it was a reasonable line of thinking while still being able to say in present: "oh man, that turned out to be a real blunder I bet they wish they hadn't had done that"

We’re not even at the 50 game mark yet, and it’s not like they’re way out of it or anything. One little nice 7 game win streak and they’re right there in the top 4 of the conference.

Did you mean the 22-23 Clippers have less wins than the 21-22 team did at this point? Otherwise, I'm not sure what to make of the title.

Yes, their window appears closed. Paul George has had so many injuries over the years with the snapped ankle and shoulders and hamstrings. As for Kawhi, we all know his injury saga after the Spurs seemingly correct diagnosis. Whether that's helped lead to the other injuries is debatable, but it doesn't really matter. He's on the decline and looks unlikely to ever play in more than 50-60 games per season at best.

You can't win if your stars are playing part time. I know people think the regular season matter and to an extent it doesn't but you still need to build chemistry and get players to understand their roles. Can't make a game plan if you have no idea when your best players are available.

The fail of clippers was in 2020 when they lost with denver going 3-1 up.

in 2021 they lost with suns in WCF but without leonard.

Not sure why their front office isn't making consolidation trades. They get destroyed by any team with some legit size. Zubac needs help down there.

The Thunder have the easiest remaining strength of schedule while the Clippers have one of the toughest. There's a very real possibility the draft swap which was part of the PG trade will convey this year. Presti looks smarter and smarter.

Watching Kawhi and Clippers fade into irrelevance has been quite enjoyable for us Spurs fans

they just are too banged up. The stars are limping all the time, and the role players are exhausted from carrying the team without them, leading to everyone being less than what their talent suggests.

At this point Kawhi is the Albert Pujols of the Clippers.

At this point Kawhi is the Albert Pujols of the Clippers. The Clippers are paying Kawhi for all the wonderful he did he did for the Spurs and Raptors. Very altruistic of Ballmer.

Are people really complaining that someone with the name clipsfanAGAIN stops being a clipsfan? How else could one become a fan again?

Clippers are 23-23. Doubt they have been 45-1 at this point in 2021.
Or what is it you wanted to say?

Wow. Not sure if I was drunk or something when I made this cluster **** of a thread title. Thanks for pointing it out.

It was a gamble with Kawih... But he was an NBA champion at the time with the Raptors. Clippers went all in as they should while giving Kawih a co-star. They did what they should have done.

Bad luck or something else with Kawih, Idk because with him we never know. But the process was correct. Now it's time to blow it up. Try to fool a team to get Kawih or PG or just let em go for nothing. Trade every guy that looks like a good asset and isn't that young... and here we go again.

Nothing else to be done there. The window has definitely closed.

Can't blame the GM however, impossible to know that Kawih would only play 20% of his games.

The name was meant to be a joke… I was a Clippers fan exclusively for 23 seasons. Then decided I enjoy watching OKC more. I started really following them because of my love for SGA’s game. I continue watching both teams, but changed my name back hoping to gear up for a title run. Then this season the Clippers have sucked the joy out of everything, while the Thunder have grown tremendously.

It’s really not that big of a deal. Even when I switch, I’m going to keep an eye on the Clips, I’m just going to give them a lot less time.

Hard to say it was just bad luck when you consider the end of his tenure in SA and how the Raptors had to manage his health the one year he was there. Going all-in with that ridiculous package to get PG never looked smart in my eyes. There were a lot of red flags for this to be your championship or bust move.
