poll: most likely to be traded before the in-season deadline?

BR: Who Will NBA's Worst Teams Unload Before the 2023 Trade Deadline?

Orlando Magic

Trade candidates: Mo Bamba, Terrence Ross, Gary Harris, R.J. Hampton

While the Magic may have waited longer than needed to lean in to their rebuild, they've been crushing the project ever since. Turning Nikola Vučević into Wendell Carter Jr., Franz Wagner and a 2023 first-round pick was a stroke of genius. Same goes for taking cheap fliers on Markelle Fultz and Bol Bol.

Bottoming out in time to land Paolo Banchero with the No. 1 pick is the kind of good-luck maneuver that could grant favorable fortunes to this franchise for years to come.

And Orlando isn't done yet.

Whom do you see as most likely to be traded?
Mo Bamba, Terrence Ross, Gary Harris, R.J. Hampton,or someone else. Vote up to twice.

Obviously it is a buyers market this year, and thus, Orlando might not trade at all. We will ignore that possibility.

Ross and probably Bamba.

I’ll be shocked if Rj gets moved, unless he is a throw in. I dont see any team giving anything for him. Not proven anything and expiring deal.

Bamba and Harris are in the same boat. With the new CBA, there might be higher luxury tax. So team might want to acquire both for their non-guaranteed deal. Both totaling 20m might be good enough for some teams. Question is, what are they willing to send out for us to take it guranteed money next year for both of them in expiring deal?

I think we are trying to showcase Ross so he is the most likely to get traded if he has any value left ( one 2nd round pick is the most value i can realistically see).
I would trade Bamba in a second but we are actually short on big guys and they are all injury prone. He has also marginal value and he made some progress durimg offseason so maybe he has some potential left.
I think Anthony is the second guy most likely to get traded. His value propably wont get higher, he is not satisfied with his role and we have Fultz and Suggs who have more potential ( at least Suggs).
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

We have like 3 players too many. We played better when Admiral and Kevon were in the rotation. Plus, we have Isaac coming back.

I'd also throw Gary into the mix of players that could be traded.

I think either Ross or G-Harris will be traded, but not both. (Buyers choice). So I thus voted Bamba. THere is no "competition" on the roster to trade, so, if a team wants a big, his price tag is well known (a low-first).

I think Bamba is most likely, due to his youth and glimmers of trade value (as the Magic should know better than anyone-a guy that can bomb 3's has a place in the league, at any position).

At this point, I think Ross just expires for cap space. If this is the summer they've been targeting, they might really believe in a max slot this summer. We have seen slow and steady, so I'm not feeling safe with hunting in FA (I'd prefer the certainty of a trade for a guy under contract). Harris should have some value and he could be traded, but I doubt they'd want to take back a guaranteed salary, so he might be stuck here until summer.

The value of these players is so low there’s not much incentive to trade them. You can let them all expire and use the cap space. A trade to actually improve the team would have to include Suggs or Fultz, and then you could throw a few of these guys in to match salaries.

I don't think anyone gets moved. We are way to injury prone and still not in a position to trade our weak assets for upgrades in assets. If they can flip and get actual value in the form of 1st picks I would be surprised but in terms of equal or better coming back i'm just as inclined to think we keep the roster as is.

+1 Not sure I want to give up what little we have in terms of assets or a bigger key asset when the answer is just let them expire for nothing and wait for the draft.

By all means, go calling some teams, and answer some phone calls. I want the silence to be deafening when a team says well take Bamba and (1st pick or Franz/Paulo) for player X.

I guess if Player X is tatum then maybe we listen again. I hope the forum can tell i'm being a homer when I say that.

It really is that simple, the question becomes are their any takers of that bet?

The odds of a low 1st and Bamba working out are about the same, with the nod to Bamba already proven to be capable as a 2nd / 3rd string backup.

I think Bamba has to be worth a late first to someone, so I picked him.

I think the trade value for Ross or G-Harris is a top-59 protected second round pick (i.e. the Magic will give them away to support their careers and free up playing time).

OR: they are leverage to get a guy like Duncan Robinson, who is wildly overpaid and the trade would be about freeing up cap space.
But then Bamba fits that role also (a Robinson for Bamba trade is not insane as the start of a race package concept).

Trading for Duncan Robinson would be like 100 times worse than trading for VanVleet.

VanVleet is gonna be overpaid, but he's actually still good. Robinson is overpaid and bad.

I went with Ross and Cole. Ross is an expiring career backup but does add shooting and Cole is obviously our worst of our 3 point guards IMO. Cole's still on a rookie contract too.

I can't see RJ because they're not making any attempt to play him and increase his value.

Harris and Bambas options for next year makes me think they're more likely to be included in a a draft day trade to help make money match. For an example Harris and Bambas contracts would help in matching salaries on a Bradley Beal type trade but who knows maybe that could be the case for right now as well.
