The 6-8+ 2-way/versatile lineup vision only came to light last season and has not been implemented yet, with 2 players under 6'5 in the starting lineup.
Why would Vice Chairman and GM then trade one of OG, Precious, Pascal (and even Point Forward Barnes)?
Because OG struggles offensively to play off of pascal and Barnes. He tries to do too much and wants a larger role that he doesn’t deserve here. He’s given chances but his ball handling and shooting has not improved enough to warrant a bigger role. In fact, his shooting has regressed this year. He also will net us the biggest haul outside of Siakam. Now is the best time to sell high.
The larger role thing rumor from ....Jake Fisher still?
Despite playing with 3x20ppg scorers in the starting lineup, he would be averaging 20ppg right now, without all those WIDE open misses. He had his shooting hand taped for while. It could explain his shooting.
Overall, DPOY-OG has been just fine, he just needs consistent touches (just feeling the ball) which can't really happen with all those ball-dominant players in the starting 5.

I think OG should be considered a core guy, but what has been concerning is the chatter around his role, which Nurse mentioned in the summer was something OG was not satisfied with.
Second, he has free agency around the corner and you have to wonder if Toronto will commit to this 6-9 vision for big dollars.
Third and most importantly, he is a Klutch client, same as Gary Trent Jr. Klutch always has a strong voice in your direction. They like to see their guys move to optimal situations where they can make a ton of money. If you look at noise about player's being unhappy the past two seasons it is likely a Klutch guy:
Anthony Davis
Lebron James
Zach Lavine
Ben Simmons
Dejounte Murray
D'arron Fox
I think Klutch is probably behind some of this trade movement, and honestly they tend to get things to happen their way.
Not to sound too much like a conspiracy theorist but I would suspect he's been talked to about getting traded in some fashion, he's got 2 techs in January so far and almost seems like he's playing scared, has his fair share of air-balls recently as well!

The same DPOY OG that let Jrue Holiday walk to the rim and score lay ups? He started on fire defensively this year, but as of late even his d has slipped a bit. He’s a good player, just not the glue guy we need him to be playing beside pascal, Scottie, Fred and Gary.
Also, nurse basically confirmed OG wanted a larger role before the season started and that he’s talked to OG about it

It's a dumb idea, cause youre not doing anything without guards in this league. Wings with guard skills are awesome, but unless those wings are just overgrown guards (like a Luka) and not just wings that have some guard skills (like Siakam and Scottie) then it will never work.

It works just fine. The last 2 seasons, we have been dominant with the long lineups: Trae, Donovan cant cope with it and even Giannis has to fight it.
We would have beaten the Sixers, in the playoffs, with the long lineup like we did during the regular season. We are an undersized team right now. One of Fred or GTJ (or both) has to go for that vision to be applied

What you're proposing just based on the players sounds like a at best lateral move which is why I'd need picks because at least maybe in a year or two it could create a better overall package once those 2 progress as players. But talentwise, I don't think they'd change the ceiling of the team all that much.
But I agree with you that I don't think OG would/will be the first move (IF he's even moved which personally I'm doubtful of). I still 100% believe the guy that will be moved is Gary (every rumour basically says both sides are ready to move on)...and Fred is more 30-40% type of chance where they're seeing if the team even looks worth holding on to him & if it's worth paying so much to retain him with OG & Pascal. Who I believe is 10% or less chance they move either unless they're blown away by a trade offer they can't refuse.

no we havent. all of our best lineups include our guards, even with all their struggles.

yes, Dougie told us what the trade value of O.G./FVV/Pascal/GTJ is

We have ..you are just thinking about offense. WE are a defensive team. Coach, ViceC and GM know that we can't compete offensively (until you get a KD) hence having skilled versatile lengthy 6'8 top defenders like OG, Pascal.
See Trae against a Raptors team with Fred vs w/out Fred but with lengthy lineup.
Same reason, many posters were fully aware of it going into the Sixers series. It is too much to ask a lineup to stop anyone consistently without any rim protection and with a short starting backcourt. Now add the fact that FVV can't seem to able to defend the Point of Attack at an elite-level this season (though against Trae it has never mattered)

A win-today team would make sense but I'm not sure NOP or POR are those teams. I also don't see Daniels or Sharpe as having clear all-star potential yet. And while I like Daniels I question how he would fit with Scottie. But we can differ on how we see these guys.
I didn't mention it but we would 100% need to be getting picks back for any of our players. I agree that the talent wouldn't change the ceiling, at least not immediately.
My sense is that Fred plays too big of a role on the team to be able to find an appropriate in-season trade. I think GTJ is gone though.
