Chris Ford has passed away

Post#1 » by Rich Michmond » Thu Jan 19, 2023 8:42 pm

The guy made the first three-pointer in the history of the NBA. Had a reasonably long career in the NBA, won a championship with the Celtics, and then coached them for many years.

Here's the shot:

Gordon Haywood, Dwayne Wade, JJ Reddick, Derek Rose, Derrick Fisher, Lenny Wilkins, Kirk Heinrich, Oscar Robinson, DeMar DeRozen, Andre Iguadola, Pascal Siakim, Malcolm Brogdan

So for some reason I thought the thread was about Chad Ford. Live long Chad.

There a cold dark place in hell for people who take 4:3 aspect ration games and convert to 16:9. But RIP Chris, heck of career.

First ever 3-pointer and probably invented the archetype of 3-and-D role player on a championship team.

I think he was coaching Milwaukee when I first started following the NBA. Those teams weren't good (Ray Allen was just a baby at that point), but I loved watching Ray, Terrell Brandon, and Big Dog.

That shot looks more like a teardrop from distance.

That's a pretty neat accomplishment to have under your belt. He shot 43% from three that season too on good volume for back then. Solid career too. Rip.

I watched Philly v. Mil last night Allen Iverson's first NBA game.. I swear the NBA was more entertaining back then. Good game to watch if you want to go back in the way back time machine.
