Hard to post up when you are laying on the ground after yet another flop.

The 10th flopping comment of the thread. General board always has such good basketball conversation, lol.

This is the correct answer.

Bit too early to characterize Embiid as a playoff failure imo. Hakeem didn't win one until he was 31 so have to give Embiid until he's at least 32 to get the job done before you can write him off.

The thing I love most about Embiid is that he never wins anything. Ill enjoy that for the rest of his career.

It doesn't matter if you agree or not. It's just Hakeem's opinion and it isn't offensive or insulting by any means. For the record, i don't agree nowadays since Embiid isn't settling like he used to.

But Embiid's comment about Hakeem's low IQ is extremely stupid and unnecessary.
It shows lack of knowledge. And it also shows he's way too sensitive.
It's just an opinion of an all time great JoJo. And it isn't insulting. Grow up.

His career is in the progress he has to chance to win the titles. Its premature to call somebody loser or win less while they are in the prime of their careers. He's just a touchy guy.

I mean, if the NBA hadn't decided to tolerate and even incorporate flopping into the sport, and Embiid hadn't decided to then center his game around it, it wouldn't be talked about so much ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's almost like the MVP thread, except that instead of Philly homers shitposting about Jokic (there) we have everyone else shitposting about Embiid (here).

Telling, perhaps, if you think about it.

On Embiid:

"He's got all the moves, but leveraging the moves is different. Why would he be shooting threes? He has the advantage every night, and if I have the advantage, I'm going to wear you out.

"[Shooting threes is] settling! When I'm tired, I settle. You don't settle when you're trying to win. You don’t start the game settling!"

On Jokic:

"He's playing the game, and you think he's not serious, but he's so effective. He doesn't look strong, but I see he gets such deep post position. I think maybe it's the mismatch, but then he does the same thing against bigger guys. His shot, his fakes, they are very difficult to time. You don't know when he's faking and when it's real. He has tricks!"

I don't think Hakeem's criticism of Embiid sounds particularly thoughtful. I do think that Embiid still leaves something to be desired as a decision maker, but he's improved in this area so much the past 2 seasons. I think Embiid's scoring game is super aggressive, very smart (he's correct about how he describes attacking the nail), and he's not attempting too many 3s. There are things to critique about Joel's game, but Hakeem doesn't do a good job of it purely in this quote.

Yea, Embiid attempts 3.2 three's, 0.9 fewer a game than Jokic. Maybe the comment was based on a specific game, but I can't say Embiid shoots too many three's when he's taking 3.2 a game at 35% and Jokic takes 2.3.

I also think Jokic's ability to pass, and the defense knowing that opens up some opportunities for him that others wouldn't have as readily.

Embiid went for the personal attack, common internet tactic, but I agree, it wasn't necessary to go there because people will now focus on that instead of on your rebuttal.

He dominates Hakeem in petulant tweets so he has that.

Embiid should follow LeBron's playbook. When an NBA Legend criticize you like Kareem did multiple times, just said ""No, I don't have a response to Kareem at all" and when asked about his thoughts and relationship to him, he just simply said "No thoughts. And no relationship". Be the bigger man and don't disrespect them. Show some class instead of saying Hakeem got no basketball IQ when he's a 12-time All-NBA, 9-time All-Defensive, MVP, 2-time Finals MVP and 2-time NBA Champ while Joel can't even reach Conference Finals in his entire career.

Embiid has won nothing. Hakeem has two rings and is a top 10 player all time. Embiid should listen to Hakeem.

the way embiid said "low IQ" tends for misinterpretation. he should have said something like hakeem not being very smart for critisizing as he did.

saying "low IQ" leads to an inference that said player has a low BASKETBAL IQ, which is not what embiid meant. embiid meant that hakeem must have a low IQ for making the statement.

both sides are silly. everyone reshapes the facts to support a biased claim

and what exactly has Embiid won that makes him this arrogant? starting to think that his time as James Hardens teammate has gotten him arrogant and foolish. Respect Lost. The NBA may be mainly about 3 point shooting now, but that doesn't mean EVERYBODY on the court has to shoot 3's all day long. That's why passing the ball is a part of the game too. So a big man can go to the inside a lot and draw enough attention to set up somebody else to get open for that outside bucket.

This is what Shaq used to do all the time, and multiple others in the 90s-early 2000s. I'd like to hear Embiid explain why modern players still go train with Hakeem these days if his Basketball IQ is so low. Do you think anyone is going to want to train and learn from Joel Embiid when he gets older one day too? I find that very hard to imagine, because for one. The big man who shoots outside buckets is only going to continue to be a thing in general. So what could Embiid possibly have to teach that many others can not do instead? yeah. Embiid is a clown.
